This is my favorite Pink Floyd song because it came out while I was in boot camp and having new Pink Floyd waiting for me after boot camp was AWESOME !

The young Native American was seen tolling in the fields doing hard labor. Cutting wheat at harvest. An older Native American (possible Shaman) is seen in brief moments in the video, seemingly a spirt guide to the young lad. The hang glider passes over head, having a huge influence of freedom. Soon he is seen on top a small mountain, shedding his jacket & literally arming himself w/a pair of feathers as wings. To be fee from being a quote 'earthbound misfit, I". A big screen & surround sound really brings this vid to life. When it was new, it really was special in its quality & clarity.

David Gilmore (lead singer and lead guitarist in Pink Floyd) said in an interview that he was inspired to write this song to describe the sensations he got while learning to fly an airplane. The video is a way of expressing that. The song and video are both very beautiful, but the video can be distracting. I think you might have gotten more out of watching a live performance of this song.

David Gilmour and Nick Mason got their pilots licenses and quite literally learned to fly.....the song is based on that. The pilot/control tower gibberish you hear in the middle of the song is Nick coming in for a landing.
@foogledroogle38598 ай бұрын
The song has two ways to interpret. A positive.. understanding change and moving forward "learning to fly". A negative... not to embracing change and ending yourself out of fear.

Hi Maddy, you have been missed! A reaction from you is the perfect way to start the month of May! Pink Floyd is an endless rabbit hole of outstanding musical excellence. I would recommend anything off the Animals studio album, some of David Gilmours's best solos.There are a few videos online, but the quality isn't that good. Keep smiling, beautiful! ✌️☮️🎸🎶🎼🎵❤️

Animals is a sad album. Very orwellian, when the creator depicted his own future degradation.

David was an avid pilot with multiple licenses and classic planes he flew,. The song is about what flying is to him and his love for it. Both he and Nick Mason learned to fly.

Yep. But PULSE contains modified guitar parts, worse than original. Improvisation is a great thing (like at Montreux 2010 Gary Moore) but sometimes little changes ruin the artwork. Like little changes done by Metallica in Nothing Else Matters.

David Gilmour said it was solely about flying, and I believe him, of course. The only lyrics that made me think it was about death was "A dream unthreatened by the morning light/Could blow this soul right through the roof of the night" I take that to mean you don't wake up from this dream. "My grubby halo, a vapor trail in the empty air" sounds like an angel to me. But it's all just lyrics, after all.

Smooth PF jam. I see that his spirit was yearning to fly but he was stuck in the grind chopping wheat. I think they were saying we all inherently know but learning to just do it. Or he turned into a bird, either or that’s cool too😊

Now....from what i have heard, this song was about david gilmour (guitar) & nick mason's (keyboards) fear of flying, so, in the mid 80's they both beat that fear by going to flight school & getting pilot's liscences, which if u listen, makes sense lyrically...but, my main point is...good lord this is just one of those 80's 90's music videos where there is way too much going on & its all muddied, & it just throws the young reactors...it distracts from the music...as noble an attempt as the video is to communicate whatever it was they were trying to communucate.
