I've always wondered if this song has the record as the longest fade-out in Rock & Roll History! Haha. Another great reaction, I'm enjoying your facial expressions, it's very clear what you're thinking and feeling, as you're listening. This album has always stood out to me as somewhat of a Musical Masterpiece, that really doesn't need lyrics. The music in this album, all the way through from beginning to end, is phenomenal, and the musicianship if off the charts. All the parts are incredibly good, the guitar parts, bass, keys, drums, just masterful,... as I intimated earlier. The album Animals was made under a cloud of dissention, Rogers Waters was having serious differences with the other band members, especially David Gilmour. In the past all the members would be involved in the construction of the song, with Waters doing the bulk of the lyrics, and Gilmour writing most of the music. With Animals Roger Waters supposedly came to the band with the song virtually done. He definitely wrote the lyrics, but It's not completely clear if he wrote all the music too, all the parts I mean. I doubt he did that. In my mind listening to this album, the guitar parts are David Gilmours, Waters may have wrote the basic chords of the songs, but the guitar is Gilmour. Also, credit and a shout-out to Nick Mason on drums, and Rick Wright on keys.

Longest outro probably belongs to The Beatles - A Day In The Life and yes, I know they're not classed as a rock band.
@yosshy47743 жыл бұрын
Waters wrote pigs (all 3), and I'm pretty sure the rest of the band input some ideas in "Pigs (3 different ones)". Dogs and Sheep were written when they were doing the "Wish You Were Here" album (Lyrics by Roger and music by Gilmour, Wright and Mason). Dogs previous name was "You've Gotta Be Crazy" and Sheep previous name was "Raving and Drooling". For some reason, people see this album as Waters' creation, but this was the very last colaboration these great musicians will ever do. A true shame for the world.
@andrewtrautman5923 жыл бұрын
Seeing Pink Floyd performing Animals live was a stunning experience. The giant floating pigs - are you kidding me! ‘Sheep’ next will pull Animals together. ‘Echos’ from Meddle another recommendation.
@TheBuglemouthBass3 жыл бұрын
Been enjoying your videos US. I would rate the three epic songs thusly: Dogs>Sheep>Pigs. They're all great but Dogs is just incredible. Some of Gilmour's best guitar solos, and one of the very few songs you can hear him solo in diatonic modes rather than his usual pentatonic scale with a few arpeggios thrown in. Sheep is great too...it has one supremely creepy section, you'll know it when you hear it. It gave me the willies when I was a young lad hearing this stuff from my big brother. I'd love to see you explore the Meddle album too. It's the most overlooked album by casual listeners because it came at the very end of their sort of underground cult following days, but to me it's the album where they finally successfully brought all of their disparate styles and sound explorations together in a focused way that naturally led to their classic era.

I always have an idea for a video of this in my head (personally feel they should have made a film of this album as it has so much more context as opposed to the wall). So, hear me out, in the middle solo bit with the pig noises; I just picture the house of commons with the majority of the members of Parliament turning into pigs with the wall style animation and eating the genuinely well- meaning members of Parliament. Dark, bleak but totally the theme they were going for! Would have been an amazing video if it was how I had it in my head (but we could all say that with ideas eh!)
@rochelleclough38953 жыл бұрын
Pigs are a commentary on the corrupt pollitician's and greedy leaders' in this track,I feel lyrics arn't as important on the first listen as its generally a song's groove that can grab you first. That Gilmour outro has to be the best I've heard!!!Loving your discovery!
@flubblert3 жыл бұрын
"Power and emotion" is their middle name. And it gives the words so much more depth. Speaking of the above you realize now you have to do the "Wish You Were Here" album which has a power all its own. The lead singer in this one, Pigs, is lyricist Roger Waters. A bit different tone than the chill melancholy voice of guitarist David Gilmour who sings lead or co-lead on much of their stuff.

Pigs (Three Different Ones) is the climax of the album, a violent charge against the top of the pyramid, the institutions, the powerful represented by loathsome boars. The caricature of the Soviet leaders in The Animal Farm turns into an allegory of capitalism which devours the world by gorging itself on its profits (1st pig), political power (2nd pig) and the power of controlling thought (3rd pig) .
