Can I play D dorian above this progression? Because Am, D and E7 are I, IV and V7, like blues progression... And Dorian usually is used in blues. Does it make sense? It works?

Probably because some intermediate guitarists want to jam without feeling intimidated and the entry solo is fairly good and maybe leaves some guitarists egos feeling inadequate .... just sayin... Ive played guitars over 50 years...Im learning sax now, and thats what I use it for... Its great!
