His ideas are more juvenile and nostalgic,yet also abstract and completely raw guitar playing. I prefer the old school floyd.

He was PINK FLOYD ... They just became a trubute act after they ousted Syd 😣 The most gifted member of the band 😣 This comes after 30 odd year of listening to Floyd to realise amd was shown by my 14 year old son ... SYD was PINK 😍 Such a talent .. i cringe when i hear Floyd without Syd these days .

The Syd Barrett PF were so mind-bendlingly warped and boundless in expression, its possible to get high as a kite by just listening! See Emily Play is quite literally a masterpiece of a song.

The most influential musical moments of my lifetime, this made me want to play guitar and I did. Over 40 years since I first heard Syd-era Floyd I am still a working musician having had a fair bit of success. Thank you Syd.

The interview afterr Astronomy Domine is the best I've seen of Syd being coherent, smiling and laughing. Great. Where is the rest of it. Syd at the American Bandstand gig is so disturbing. Dick Clark is trying to avoid him like an elephant in the room but Syd is the leader and and the main songwriter and he is all but totaled. Heartbreaking.

There’s a lot of really great bands out there today that I think a lot of favs of this stuff would enjoy. Tame Impala, SOAKED, Avey Tare’s Slasher Flicks, King Gizzard And The Lizard Wizard, Babe Rainbow, YAWN, Ariel Pink, MGMT... Seriously, the beauty and the music is there. You just have to look for it now, you won’t really hear it on the radio.

Dick Clark was such a gentleman and so ahead of his time with his music and media ideas. I guess the last interviewer was Hans Keller... what a pompous ass. I was surprised PF was so kind to him.

You can only make one album from this brand of madness. Yet we are so blessed to have it. But i will always wish we could have kept Syd instead. In the long haul drugs don't help art, they destroy it! Syd could have released that magic without any drugs, and flourished in his art permanently.

There never will be another Syd or another Floyd, & the "Man Who Fell to Earth" has returned from whence he came! They never disappointed an audience! So glad I was part of that scene, & lucky enough to see them a number of times at the UFO and other venues. Some of the greatest memories from the best decade of my life!

The American Bandstand kids must of thought what the hell is this? I really enjoy Syd Barret's Pink Floyd, it was much more progressive and interesting than the later version of Floyd.

I imagine Pink Floyd with Syd Barrett still healthy and staying in there would have still gone on to make beautiful and awesome super epics, which could have been anything from a fairytale version of Dogs/You've Gotta Be Crazy to a trippy version of something like Mike Oldfield's Tubular Bells fully instrumental album.🧚‍♂🐕🔔🎶🎹🎸

The 60s ... what an era! Whether you like it or not, the level of creativity in rock and roll was astonishing. I personally prefer Pink Floyd after Syd Barret, but his contribution is undeniable. Not to be disrespectful, but the biggest lost of that time was Jimi Hendrix. He had the perfect combination of genius composition, unlimited creativity and unparalleled skill. I guess God wanted guitar lessons after all.

I saw similar interviews about the rave dance scene in the 90's. You've got to take into account the generation gaps of interviewers and interveiwee's this whole psychedelic thing was quite new at that point and no one was really sure what to say about it. Loving as always the zippo lighter on his telecaster.

crazy that after syd left they literally never had another single until money and that was pretty much it.....syd was the best thing to happen to that band and I feel like they could have given him more time like beach boys did with brian Wilson....

They had "It Would Be So Nice" and "Point Me At the Sky" as singles after Syd, but they flopped. So then the band gave up.
