Mike, great job of breaking down the later years, there sure is enough things in the box. I just cannot see myself spending $300 for just disc 6. You explained in a solid overview what was on each disc and that made my decision easy. As always will be interested in your review of this monster of all box sets. Take care and great job as usual.

An interesting item....... on the flip side of your vinyl "Arnold Layne" you have the embossed derby hats. On mine, there are embossed "Piper At The Gates Of Dawn" logos. Both are cool.

Have you noticed some people got different etchings on their 7” singles. My Arnold Layne has the Piper At The Gates Of Dawn album etched on it but yours has hats. I’ve also seen different for Lost For Words too.

It's me, the guy who was bitching about ELP, the other day - and I'm back to bitch, yet again!!!!!!!!! I ordered this box set back in August, from Amazon, when the release date was still November 29, 2019. We were informed, eventually, that the release date was moved forward to December 13, 2019. No problem - shit happens. So on December 12th (Thursday), I went onto Amazon, to check the status of my order - all excited, thinking that I'd finally be holding "The Later Years" box set, in my hands, in just a few short hours!!! It was pretty late at night and so my heart sank when I got to my "orders" page, only to find out that my "Later Years" box set was not even shipped, yet!!! I figured that this was surly an oversight, it being a very hectic time of year and all. So I called Amazon to see what the story was. I was told that the box set wouldn't be released until the following day and that THAT was when it would be shipped to me. It MUST have been a millennial that I was chatting with because I could NOT, for the life of me, get her to understand that Amazon always ships out discs the day before the release date, so that the customers can have their purchase in their hands, the day it gets released. She couldn't understand how Amazon could ship something out, that wasn't released yet because "Duh!!!", it won't be released until tomorrow. How can we send it to you if we don't have it ourselves?" "Oooooooo - it must be magic, huh?!!!" I said. I was just about at the end of my rope by this time!!! So then she asks me to please calm down because the money would NOT be taken out of my bank account, until the item shipped, anyway. WRONG AGAIN!!! The money had already been taken out of my account - hours earlier! I knew because I had checked my balance, at the bank, that morning. So now, MORE lies spew forth from this imbecile, telling me that "Oh, I see that the money WAS taken from your account but it was returned a few hours later because the item couldn't ship, at the time. I hung the phone up, with a sigh of relief and thought, "Great!!! I'll just go to the brick & mortar record shop, near my house, in the morning and get it!" NO SUCH LUCK....I called the bank, in the morning and found out that the money had NOT been returned!!! FURIOUS!!! I called Amazon back and got absolutely NO further with the idiot who answered my call than I did with the other piece of work I had talked to, the night before. I won't bother you with the details of THAT fiasco (a carbon copy of the previous night). So now it is December 14, 2019 and I finally got an actual e-mail, telling me that my box set has been shipped and that it will be delivered , tomorrow, December 15, 2019!!! .......................................................sorry to put you through that but I just had to vent!!!!!! You have NO idea how pissed-off I am, at Amazon, right now!!! Especially the fact that STILL, no one will give me a straight answer WHY I did not get this box set ON THE RELEASE DATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Anyway - great unboxing video - enjoyed it a lot. Keep 'em coming and I'm glad YOU didn't get screwed by Amazon. Later.

Sorry you're going through all that! Hopefully it arrives today for you. I always interact with Amazon via chat (especially the foreign sites). You might have better luck. Same representatives, I'm sure, but maybe a layer of calmness can be achieved typing and looking at text. I would fire up a chat, if it were me, and document, in writing, that they failed to ship in time for release and see if you can work a gift card out of them. You know other Amazon customers who got their box on release day. I want to hear your thoughts when it shows up!

They always throw that "I'm sorry" $5.00 gift at me. I don't want their lousy 5 bucks!!! I want my merchandise, on time and I don't want to be lied to!!!!!!!! I'm supposed to get the box set, today. We'll see - I ain't holdin' my breath! So I'll get back to you with my review. Thanks again for all your videos - I enjoy then so much! A very nice box set and I like Pink Floyd but the latter years of them for me are not worth spending this sort of money on them. I was also very disappointed with Endless River when I brought it on CD so even the 5.1 mix of that album would have no interest to me at all. The other thing that really disappointed me about this box set is that it contains absolutely no informative information or real background history and all the books were nothing more than a bunch of photographs and pictures. What Ian Anderson is doing with the Jethro Tull Book Editions of his albums in all honesty wipes the floor with this box set for the fact that least you do get some really great information in a 96 page book plus they only cost £30. They could not even go out the way to even put some effort into putting different labels on the discs and printed them all the same colour and with the same design. The Division Bell concert program book I have and brought it at the concert at Earls Court in 1994. My concert ticket I still have too but without the stub and it cost me £22.50. I was even offered around £140 for it outside the venue but refused to sell it. If Pink Floyd were all well and alive today and done another concert there I dare say you would pay about £350 for a ticket :)))))). You will have your work cut out reviewing all of this material for sure and knowing Floyd they will not release the 5.1 discs individually simply because they are the Big Boys and the Big Boys are the GREEDY ones by far. With what they have done to Delicate Sound Of Thunder will not be for purists either with all the remixes they have done. The box set might be worth it's price tag but for me it's a hefty price tag to pay for a load of the same thing all over again and the fact that it contains no decent book with information in it, is a BIG No! No! for me personally. But I am sure for many others including yourself it has something of good value and thanks for showing it to us and you done a GRAND! unboxing here to in the way that you did.

Later Floyd is my Floyd, so I feel the opposite about it, as for The Early Years. Hopefully the price of this thing will drop. Or they'll break up the set, like they did for TEY.

Some additional concerts. In many respects it's a great set. Just poorly though-out in a few ways and too expensive. I hope they break it in to smaller pieces.

Well, it came in...........and that's the ONLY good thing I can say about it! In your unboxing video, as in others I have seen, "The Later Years" came in a thick, cardboard box with protective styrofoam pieces, holding it in place. And THAT box was packaged inside a larger Amazon box, with the mailing stickers on it. NOT MINE!!!!!!!! Mine was just thrown into the much larger Amazon box, with absolutely NO PROTECTION - no snug-fitting secondary box, with styrofoam pieces - NOTHING!!! And yes - there are dents and scratches all over the box set because of all the sliding and bouncing around, during shipping!!!!!!!!! I'm surprised the loose fitting plastic bag, with the teardrop sticker on it was in the box, with the box set!!!!!!! And even THAT was about 3/4 of the way off the box set - all wrinkled and torn!!!!! The teardrop sticker was so destroyed that I couldn't salvage it!!!!! (Like you, I save that kind of stuff). I am SO disgusted with Amazon and this purchase!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They have NOT heard the last of it - I guarantee you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's awful! I strongly suspect that different distribution centers follow different packaging practices. You should definitely complain to CS and get a replacement. Hopefully you can enjoy those blu-rays in the meantime... I'm having a BLAST with them.

@@lifeinsurround Finally - a light at the end of the tunnel!!! A replacement box set is being sent and I should have it by Thursday!!! Hopefully THIS ONE will be in pristine condition. They kept telling me that I had to send my original box set back first and THEN they would send the replacement but I told them that that definitely was NOT happening! After a lengthy phone call, I received an e-mail saying that the new box was on it's way and that I could use the box that the new one was in, to return the old one! Score ONE for the consumer!!! You know, some of the people that are reading our conversation here, probably think that I'm being childish about all this but I DON'T CARE!!! I am a collector. A very serious collector!!! I have discs from back in the 80's that are in brand new condition. Some of them are worth hundreds and hundreds of dollars, today! Just the other day, on Amazon I saw a disc, by Donovan, that I bought decades ago, for $9.49. The price now, on Amazon, was $500.00!!! Same goes for the 2012, 40th Anniversary Book Edition of Jethro Tull's "Thick As A Brick". I paid $27.95 for it, brand new and now, if you can find it, you'll have to shovel out $600.00!!! And don't even get me started on my original Japanese Beatles box sets from 1987 and 1988!!! They were expensive, back then ($1200.00), for all five and the last time I priced them, they were going for $6000.00!!! To me, these are investments - not just "discs"!!! So yes, I ABSOLUTELY CARE what condition they're in, when I receive them!!! OK - I'm done bitching. Merry Christmas and keep the videos coming! I enjoy them, so much!!!
