This is one of my all time favorite tracks of music in the whole wide world the singing is so beautiful my heart floats every time i hear it & every when I sing it and every thing is forgiven and healed my mind my world are full of angels and kindness even all my pet birds and guinea pigs adore it ,I do not know how to speak this language I believe it is Korean - so- I do not know what the song is saying I think i might love to know -but- however I imagine all sort of wonderful loving words in my head for it and I fear knowing the actual words could spoil it for me as they may not be as wonderful as my imagination & because every single time i hear it i imaging a whole set of new words all over again .I have heard this song many many hundreds of times now sometimes I play it on repeat for months at a time over and over again and again so I can now sing this song by heart i dearly I love it so . I can not believe its been 12 years since it was published and its been 12 years I have had it playing on my head phones almost every day some time laughing sometimes crying but always deeply felt in my heart and in times i have been all alone and surrounded by many people pets and friends came and went out of my life in these 12 years which have been GREATLY IMPROVED for having this magical song thank you i love you "pink martini" for this.

It reminds me when i was waiting for the end of the hughe summer rain in Budapest. The rain was a curtain and all the lights turned to honey and grey. The city was unbealiveable :) So this is my budapest rain anthemn ;) IT is my favourite! thanks

The original version performed by Hiroshi Wada & Mahina Stars back in 1963 is extremely obscure and hard-to-find in Japan and never available on CD. The single(Victor VS-903) was flopped and most of Japanese people don't know the original version・・・But recently I have got the 10'' LP "Miwaku No Chorus Vol.17(Victor LV-331)" which includes the original version of this song. By the way, Hiroshi Wada & Mahina Stars were a very successful Hawaiian-styled Kayokyoku band.

This concert was great! We saw the 2nd performance that New Year's Eve at the Alene Schnitzer Concert Hall. It was all recorded and became their "Dicover the World" DVD....but this song, WOW! To hear that koto, live, just sent pleasant shivers throughout your body!

This is a koto which is traditional Japanese string instrument dating way back. You can get one from Japan however, I suggest you buy it and bring it home with you. If you are near a Japanese music store and/or dance studio they may be able to help you get one as well. Korea has a similar instrument as well. Not sure about China or Taiwan though. Good Luck! I Hope you find one to your liking.

I concur. When I first heard them singing I thought they were Asian too! That is, till I looked up from what I was doing was surprised to see they were Non-Asian. They did a Beautiful job on this song! From what I "could" translate, sounds like two lovers who want to be together forever however, they are somehow "separated"...such a Sad yet Beautiful song.
