Before you hit the PLAY button - can you guess what Haltech ECU is used in this car? Bet you can't.... Old School Beetles are cool. Baja Beetles are even cooler. So how about a Toyota V8-powered Baja Beetle? Today we take our tech scalpel to this pink machine and see what makes it tick.

Definitely a clean buggy.. Not bragging but you should see mine. 600hp CBM LS and 2700lbs. Wheelies on command 😜

Baja is from a region in Mexico, and the J pronounced as an H in Spanish.

Very awsome ! I currently have my stock bottom end 1uz making 781whp. It's made that power for the last 4 years 💪 These engines take a lot of abuse !

Green coolant on a toyota engine? Blasphemy!! Long live the UZ though, I have nearly finished an A70 supra race car with a GTX3582r slapped on a built 1UZ in front of a t56, running an old PS2000 that a mate had lying around atm to keep the budget down but always room for upgrades down the track ;) I can't wait to hear what it sounds like

It’s actually blue to match the frame, is there a difference?

Having the radiator right behind the seats scares me after that incident at Cleetus' burnout contest!

Do you have 1uz base tunes with your ecu's?

Another great episode Scotty and made better for this Volkswagen fan. Not unlike the Volkswagen’s of days gone by, It’s simplicity getting the job done - and looking cool doing it.

I guess an Elite 1500 or even older. Regardless, thanks for the content and mixing it up, all still very interesting. Keep it up.

1UZ is hidden tuning reliable gem, keep them hidden. Best V8 ever made. LS is boat anchor against 1UZ.

My kid has the 1uz in a rock crawler and hammer's it every weekend. I don't know anything about that motor , I run a 600hp CBM LS in my baja and have been on the Rev limiter for 3 years with zero issues so far. I'll stick with the LS 🤙

Scott, Not to nitpick, but @2:50 It's "Bah-hah" per Spanish language etymology ;) Bah-Jah sounds like a spicy item on a menu!

Is that how Baja is pronounced in Australia? As a proper noun, you’re allowed to still pronounce it like “bah-hah”, not “bah-jaw”
