I interpret it as the son died in a previous war, since his picture is in black and white, and the dad is both still grieving his son's death and is distressed that more youth are being sent to die in another new war
@oBabybbyuuuu2 жыл бұрын
Yes, he and Pink in the end had more in common than anyone realized: they are both victims of war, while Pink grieved over the death of his father and never met him, the professor grieves over the loss of his son and has to deal with him for the rest of his life. with the fact that he will never see him again (except in dreams).
@oBabybbyuuuu2 жыл бұрын
He could have been a kind of father figure to Pink, giving the best of life's teachings and both could fill each other's emotional void, sad that Pink only saw him as another tyrant/dictator and the teacher saw him as another boy fragile with no future.

A place to stay “Oi! A real one …” Enough to eat Somewhere old heroes shuffle safely down the street Where you can speak out loud About your doubts and fears And what’s more no-one ever disappears You never hear their standard issue kicking in your door You can relax on both sides of the tracks And maniacs don’t blow holes in bandsmen by remote control And everyone has recourse to the law And no one kills the children anymore And no one kills the children anymore Night after night Going round and round my brain His dream is driving me insane In the corner of some foreign field The gunner sleeps tonight What’s done is done We cannot just write off his final scene Take heed of the dream Take heed

@@tomascalfu6211 Given the context of the song, I'd also say he may or may not have had a son who died out in WW2.
