Gods this game is short... Aaaaanyways, it is time to start the Wily stages! There is not much to say here... This is before the time of fortress maps and dramatic Wily entries... but he still gets the eye-brow waggle in... THAT has been around since the very beginning! XD The first fortress stage is kind of bleh... It starts off with some Big Eyes... lovely... then followed up with a gauntlet of various places where you will finding yourself needing to make use of the various powers you have collected. This stage gets a lot of hate from me for one specific reason though... the foot holders. At least in Ice Man's stage they were optional, but this time around, they are MANDATORY! If you use the Magnet Beam to skip them, you will not be able to get past the next room, and thus, will need to go commit suicide. Sounds lovely, does it not? That is it for this stage, though... it is very short... all that is left is the boss.
The boss here is the infamous Yellow Devil. Stop using the pause trick, people, the boss is not even all that difficult. The key to perfecting any devil fight is memorizing the pattern in which it breaks apart. Dodging everything is always most difficult the very first time the devil appears as you cannot see each block separating from the body like you can for the rest of the fight. While I still never want to fight this thing buster only, that is simply due to the raw tedium this causes. I mean really... you are looking at at least 20 times of this pattern looping before scoring a kill with the buster. Probably more since the eye can appear up higher than where the buster can hit! Yeeeah... I shall just stick to the Thunder Beam. XD For those wondering about the pause trick... you just press Select to toggle the game between pause and unpause. If timed right, the Thunder Beam will hit multiple times, quickly getting rid of the boss. This works on several bosses in the game, but it is most definitely cheating. XD
Enjoy!~
