If the Mustang didn’t get loose in the 3rd race, it would have been a really close finish. If they were spraying less, they would have given up less lengths and the engine would have likely survived to the end. This show was always about the the negotiations. The producers had a vested interest to have it come down to the last race. Your car had to be able to at least survive the 5 (or however many) races.

I don’t really see what your seeing. The beat him by 1 in the first race. Beat him by 1 in the second race after giving him 2 or 3 lengths in the second race. He was going to beat him in the third race after giving 5 lengths if he didn’t get out of the groove. The fourth race with 4 lengths was a gimme if they didn’t blow it up. They did everything they could to make it competitive and if not for getting loose AMP would have swept them. How fair is that? It’s the entire point of negotiations is to make it competitive.

I remember hard core motorsports. The owner went to prison, Ron Duke and the shop was shady as shit. Had a fuel pump installed by them and received a massive bill for extra work and dyno time I never authorized. Luckily, I had in writing as I always do when my car goes to a shop what was being done and they only charged me for the installation but i was told not to come back. Lol Their rep was bad. I heard the owner would let people store their Classic cars in his showroom, they operated out of an old car dealer ship and they he kept someone car for failure to pay when he said they could just let it sit in his show room and people could look at it. That is what rumor went around the state. Anyway, they closed and nobody missed them. It's too bad they were shady because everyone wanted a speed shop like that around.

It cost double to build a ford engine over a Chevy engine and yes to a extent small block fords are bad about splitting at higher power levels sometimes they either live for ever or die early

Mainly bc it’s cheap bc they can get a stock block 351 to make more than most sbc for their budget but yes sbc is way cheaper to build but it’s solid 302 that’s right with run circles around the sbc unless they have to go around two the length of track in the same amount of time this heck yes the sbc will hold up longer can’t you run longer jogging than running fast as you can
