Viacom is mad to cheat the creator of wasseypur this badly. This is something very common, and it happens in hollywood too - they do it to avoid paying royalties to the makers and actors. But 2L, 75K, 50K to such top actors is extremely cheap, esp when the movie was such a blockbuster. If they just shared a little bit of the profits - they could make much more money from sequels, merchandising, licensing etc. As Anurag owns the rights.. what fools!

GOW was not a blockbuster...in fact it barely broke even with its first part and it's sequel flopped...It's a separate thing that due to its merit, it has been celebrated in a cult way now

The level of quality of Anurag kashyap movies has been in a decreasing mode 📉⬇️ from his debut unreleased movie "Paanch" to "Dobara". From hailing himself as flag bearer of Independent, artistic rebellion to shaking hands with the very same industry barons he dissed and "revolted" against, to "Modi" hating he has taken a huge plunge. I think his last best work was "Ugly". After Bombay Velvet he has lost himself completely and indulged into unnecessary things hence failing in professional, public and personal life as well. Anyways sad to say that he has reached to point beyond hope of returning just his mentor RGV.

Precisely! He has become a man consumed by his political ideology. And has consequently made his work nothing but an instrument of his personal hatred. He keeps creaming his pants over Malayalam cinema. Can he make a film as nuanced and objective as Nayattu? Where in order to appease the Dalit vote bank, the cops who are sacrificed are also Dalits. The point of that film is not Dalit vs others. The point is that when system demands a blood sacrifice no one really cares about your identity anymore.

I have to disagree with you on that. You always separate professional life and personal life. What you just said, is his business in his personal time. Frankly no one should judge his movies negatively just cause he doesn't agree with someone's political ideology. As for his best movies, Ak vs AK was amazing, if you just ignore the end. Sacred games, co directed was seriously amazing as well, although not written by him. Choked was also good, but it was way too complicated for the majority, hence the bad ratings. As for his earlier work, he did have ups and downs as well. No smoking, Bombay velvet, that girl in yellow boots(okish movie). It might just be a phase that he may be going through.

@@silversteel6891 While I appreciate you sticking up for him, it is a fact that Anurag is still an under-acheiver. He may have had potential , which I am afraid has remained unutilized. If you look at this work, I am afraid it has remained restricted to his most core fans. He has simply failed to break out of that. Many of us attribute this to own arrogance, perhaps he makes his content to impress the legendary Western directors whom he considers his idols. Sacred games was fine, not amazing by any measure. It had decent writing, but was an Indianized version of a well established template. He has been with netflix for so many years now. Still , what is the best has he achieved with them? We have so much content from the Western countries, Spain and even Korea which has broken barriers and are so much popular with Indian audiance. Has any of his content on Netflix done so outside India or Indian diaspora ? He is almost 50 now, which is quite a peak age for his profession. Yet here he is, making a mediocre copy of an already established Spanish movie and promoting it in such a non-serious manner.
