This dude fell in love with filipino music 😅❤
@roverlights61139 күн бұрын
There was a time when it was said that OPM was dead. If my calcualtion is right its around 2005-2015. How it happened? My observation was its bec of how many filipinos were drawn to old songs that the industry most especially the big producers love making REMAKES/ COVER albums. There waas a time when an old song was being remade and covered by big artists 3 to more times in the same time. For producers its an easy and guaranteed hit and sales bec these songs were well loved and the producers didnt have to gamble wether it would sell or not and they didnt have to pay for song writers. Thanks to heaven those dark days of opm was over and young people begin to make their own music again.

Those were the years the forever wars ramped up. Wouldn't that be a factor?
@sunie.sideup8 күн бұрын
Music Piracy may also be a reason why there were limited releases that time..
@XandieFireman7 күн бұрын
Your calculation is wrong. OPM is at its peak during 2004 to 2009. The second wave of band era in Philippines. I can say that the dark days of opm was during 2010 to 2016.
@roverlights61137 күн бұрын
@@XandieFireman which bands were making wave those years? Maybe you are right, must be on later years opm industry becane gloomy and almost dead.its like a drought for a decade or so. thanks to new breed of musicians

Nung isilang ka sa mundong ito, laking tuwa ng magulang mo. (When you are raised in this world, your parents are very happy.) Kahit maputi na ang buhok ko. (Even though my hair turned grey.) Hindi ko makalimutan kung kailan nagsimula. (I can't forget when it started.) Ikaw lamang ang aking iibigin. (You're the only one I will loved.) Sa bawat araw ang pag-ibig ko sayo "inaudible" (Every day, my love for you is "inaudible") Boy, ang awiting 'to'y sayo. (Boy, this song is for you.) Balat kayo pala ang pag-ibig mo. (You're love is just pretending.) Mahilig kami sa magaganda, katawan ang aming nakikita. (Our type is someone beautiful, body is what we see.) Pag-ibig ko sayo'y totoo. (My love for you is true.) Ikaw lang ang aking mahal. (You're the only one that I love.) Oh babe, isang tingin mo lang. (Oh babe, just a glaze of you.) Ikaw pala'y salawahan, bakit... (You're for two people, why...) Sanang magtampo, sorry pwede ba? (Hope you don't sulk, sorry is it okay?) Sa tuwina'y naaalala ka. (I always remember you.) Mamang Sorbetero, anong ngalan mo? Tinda mong Ice Cream, gustong-gusto ko. (Ice Cream Man, what is your name? The Ice Cream that you sell is the mostly I like.( Tatanda at lilipas din ako. (I will grow old and pass away too.)

Two reasons I see why there a lot of good singers in the Philippines. First, Filipino Languages have a lot of vowels,, and S, H, N, M, sounds. It gives that breathy and humming quality you often hear in OPMs whether it is Tagalog, Bisaya, etc. Second, Amateur and club scenes are strong. From small villages to elementary schools, there are always contests with prize money. Club scenes are ridiculous. You got to be good with the crowd. You got to be good enough to get word of mouth reach producers.

So many English hit songs in the 80s.. coz English was so trending back then... Other hits like envelope ideas by the dawn, say youll never go neocolours and other songs written and performed by jose mari chan were so popular in the 80s.. but still ( in my own opinion).. most OPM songs are still underrated
@Unknown-cj8wy6 күн бұрын
"When I met you" by Apo Hiking Society is from a famous Filipino music genre from the mid 70s called Manila Sound. This genre was the forerunner of the OPM that we enjoy today

Honestly ..western music are good but if PEOPLE OF THE WORLD ONLY KNEW ABOUT OPM... I am 101% confident... They will be more in love with our music...

For me, there are some slumps during 2013 to 2018 noticeably copying western big hits (Lazy Song = Nasayo na ang Lahat, Hayaan mo Sila = I'm the One), but after 2019, songs like Magnus Haven slaps hard.

Freddie Aguilar's (Ka Freddie meaning Elder Freddie now his Muslim name Abdul Farid) hit song Anak was translated into 27 to 51 foreign languages. This 2020s era probably some of the hit songs of PPop (Philippine Pop/Pinoy Pop) boy or girl group like SB19 or Bini could translate into foreign languages.
