I used to drive to Ramstein from Bad Krueznach to shop for CDs and to go bowling during the late 80s, and early 90s. They had the best selection of everything under the Sun. 💯😄

Wow, 80s and 90s. There should be a lot of changes. Future build will be a big regional hospital.

We arrived in Germany on Dec. 12 1968 and left June 12 1974. Our plane lost an engine and we had to wait at Rhein Main for 14 hours. It was the 1st match of the World Fussball Championships. There were no hotel rooms for 250 miles+. Not even our rooms at the Pink Palace.

Wow, engine trouble can be scary.

Thank you so much for this video journey. I lived at Ramstein AFB from February 1971-December 1976, ages 6 through 12. I just relived 100 memories along the track you took.

I was there from 82-87…nothing looks the same (surprise). The west gate has so many trees on both sides now. One of the things that I loved as a kid, was being able to clearly see a C-5 leaving the runway as we left the base - such a big plane that it looked like it wasn’t moving. Also I love the F-4 stat display! My favorite fighter jet.

Yes, I like the new buildings (BX) and a new hospital being built.
@4phishnАй бұрын
I noticed the same on Google Earth. Back in the late 70s I would peddle my bike just outside the west gate where I would lean against the fence and wave to the F4s as they were on the final approach. On one occasion the guy in the back seat waved to me. There was a German bratwurst trailer/stand right outside the gate near the fence that was around the flight line. I would buy a bratwurst then eat it while sitting on my bike and leaning against the fence while watching planes land. It looks like the trees are too thick to see the flight line now.

@7:03 that subway used to be a kickass doner stand. Man I miss that place. I stayed at the old CE dorms (03-05) across from the enlisted club 😎 🍻 wild times man. And the old e club was across from moms. Around there.

Part 2 of video has location of old BX, green grass 😃. North Chapel still there. Commissary opposite old BX location. I'm glad our videos can help everyone compare the difference of set up.

@@luckytyan6011 In 2006 the BX was not the same one as in 75-78 BX. Totally different one. Very nice. :)

Were you there when they remodeled the old BX? They set up the BX in the big hanger down on the flight line for awhile. People that bought clothes there in the hanger BX brought fleas home with them from the birds nesting up in the rafters of that great hanger.
@jonham84692 жыл бұрын
Thanks for clearing up where the old BX used to be. I hadn't been able to figure it out. I was there from '68-'70 and we called the old BX Four Corners. I could sort of tell where it was by the North Chapel and the Base Theater, but I just couldn't believe it's now just an empty field. I lived in one of the barracks across from the library and service club. I met my future wife, an AF dependent whose dad worked at Kindsbach, the night I arrived at Ramstein when I walked over to the library and she was behind the desk. We've been married 52 years. She is a '67 graduate of K-Town High.

Congratulations! On your 52 yrs anniversary. I salute both of you. If you get the chance to visit Ramstein AB and continue another chapter walk down memory lane, it would be great.

I retired in 2019, and I was deployed to Ramstein during Iraq 2.0 and Afghanistan. I don't have one bad memory during my entire stay here. And the drive around the base brings tons of memories. Thank you, Lucky T, you made my night. The wife just told me, those deployments are over, you're home forever. I just smile awkwardly, of course.

If you get the Landstuhl job, go for it. Relaxing ang buhay sa Germany sa area ng Landstuhl kasi village life. City life can be hectic. Depende sa gusto mo. Plan well and decide.
