Pinoy Joyride - AH26 Lal-lo to Sanchez Mira / Cagayan Joyride

Passing the northern Luzon roads near Babuyan Islands, due to the North eastern monsoon, cold rainy weather welcomed me in this part of Ah26. You could even hear AM radio stations from Taiwan from here. This is my Cagayan Joyride - Asian Highway 26/Maharlika highway from Lal-lo to Sanchez Mira. In the video you could see the Magapit Suspension Bridge at Lal-lo (formerly Nueva Segovia). I was returning from Aparri to Ilocos Norte and the waether was really depressing due to rains. Passing the municipalities of Lal-lo, Allacapan, Ballesteros, Abulug, Pamplona and ending the video at Sanchez Mira for a break.

The whole stretch of road you took is 100% safe from insurgency. Just arrive here in US from Christmas vacation in Cagayan Valley / Isabela and I drove 4 roundtrips from Tuguegarao to Abulug between Dec 25 and New Year. Insurgents seems to be pushed in the mountains - if any. The thing I noticed are the almost new PUV's plying the route. Gone are the Kias and Hyundai's and replaced with Toyota and Nissans.

I rode a UV express van from Tuguegarao to Claveria, Cagayan, stayed there overnight, and then rode another UV express van from Claveria to Laoag City around August last year. It was the first time I saw this road and towns, and completed the northern loop as well. It was an awesome experience, although it was also raining heavily when I passed through the Lal-lo to Abulug area. I think you showed us a sneak preview of this road (quick footages of the Magapit Suspension Bridge and Lucban Bridge) sometime last year. where those the ones that got corrupted? How was your stay in Claveria? Have you been to Sentinela Cove? In my attempts to pass here, weather has not been too kind with me... Yes, the footages last year were the ones that got corrupted. I did a northern loop with that series from Banawe, Sagada, Halsema to Baguio and back to Sagada same day, Bessang Pass and Ilocos all up to Tuguegarao and back to Manila all have been wiped out hehehehe.

I stayed in El Dia Beach Resort, which is just walking distance from Claveria Town Proper. I enjoyed staying there, really quiet place and friendly people, perfect for relaxation. Luckily, weather was OK when I got there. I got worried it would be the same as the other towns I passed by. I havent had a chance to visit Sentinela Cove but I was able to visit Taggat cove and see the Lakay Lakay and Baket Baket rock formations. I also did an "inner" northern loop trip early last year (Manila-Banaue-Bontoc-Sagada-Baguio-Manila), but that northern loop you made there was extreme! Sayang yung footages, but at least you have a good reason to come back. :)

6:45 since you've mentioned the risk travelling at night on that route, is there an alternative road which is safer?

This was taken years ago, the road itself is a national road. It is more adviced to travel during the day but relatively safe.

Nice ride. Yes, it's rainy season on that northern part of Cagayan from September to January. One thing though I've noticed is that you drive too fast on those road, what car you used :)

hello, the speed of the video was adjusted to be able to shorten the video when uploaded on youtube, we were running around average 60kph - 80kph / some overtaking and gradual deceleration afterwards. thanks for watching ! kind of scared to go faster on a wet rainy afternoon (hydroplane issues) :-)

Im planning to have a trip on December end this yr or early January 2018 along this area.
