I love home schooling. The flexibility, the time together, the bond our family has, the ability to choose our curriculum, go at our own pace, and do their work anywhere (giving us the opportunity to travel) … the list of reasons it works great for us goes on and on! Would love more videos on your experience.

17 years homeschooling and the time spent together meant everything to us! Over time I traveled from the idea that there was a model to follow and came to see our education systen as a failed paradigm. No education is "perfect." That gave us the releasing freedom to ford individual paths of learning for our children.

Yes it is hard, but it is the most rewarding thing I did. I homeschooled five children (ages spread over 10,5 year age gap between first and last). They are all adults now and are on successful paths.

Homeschooling is a way to shelter kids from the real world and prevent them to learn how to deal with hard situations when young, when it is easier. Plus, school doesnt teach only science and english, you learn social skills and norms there that otherwise you wouldnt. Not to mention that so many times kids suffer from loneliness when homeschooled. Hearing that the goal is heaven and not a good education made me really unconfortable. The goal is both. Having holy kids is not enough to say you are doing a good job as a parent, it is not an excuse to say you dont need to give your kids a good academic education. After all, they will need to provide for themselves and their families one day, and a good academic education is crucial for that. I am glad she mentioned having tutors though, as it is extremely hard, impossible in most cases, for parents to give a solid education in all subjects. If your kids are "wrongly influenced" at school, the classic worry of parents who homeschool, its because u didnt give them a solid moral and religious education at home, based on facts and reason. If kids go to school and find flaws and falacies in what u taught them, is that the schools fault? dont blame school for your failure as an educator.

I was homeschooled and still managed to develope social skills and learn that life sucks and is not fair. I think homeschooling can be done poorly but I also see people who got left behind in public and charter schools. I think it's HOW you homeschool that's important and there are better ways to do it than others. But it doesn't matter what I say. The fact that some people were homeschooled poorly means that my very positive experience doesn't matter and I must apologize on behalf of everyone who was the victim of bad parenting and bad homeschooling and that every single parent will ruin their kid if they ever try homeschooling even if they do a good job because nuances doesn't exist. Yeah that was a bit sarcastic at the end, but yeah tired of it being a black and white homeschooling is bad and will ruin your kid and public/private schools is required for them to be successful results vs public school will ruin your kid and homeschooling is the only way for them to be successful and holy adults. Children have different needs and do best under different systems which is why I believe families should have options for education.

As a homeschooling mom of 9 year old twins I can honestly say we definitely need PRAYER. It’s a damn hard job that seems thankless a lot of the time. We do it because we are called to do it by the Lord-to bring them up in the faith and help form minds and hearts. Doesn’t make it any easier though 😂 so remember to pray for us!

My family and I tried to home educate our five kids when we lived in Germany... the result was fines, totalling about six thousand euros, the state freezing our bank account and confiscating our car. Just before we left to start again in the UK they were even threatening us with the family courts, even though a social worker had visited us and wrote a very positive report about us as a family. But other than that it went really well!

It worries me that homeschooling is illegal in my home country. The only way to do it is to get a university degree in education and then follow the government approved curriculum at home and they do check up on you..

Thank you for the timely reassurance that I have my priorities in order with homeschooling my kids! Totally focused on getting them to Heaven 😇 we do a lot of unschooling in all areas since we are interested in so many things ;) and I manage to get some structured stuff in there, especially for math and language arts but I often find myself lamenting the inconsistency. HOWEVER, this has been the best shift, however stressful, and I'm so glad I followed the Holy Spirit's call. We've gone from attending daily Mass almost never to regularly once a week, to multiple times a week. Which has further fed our family prayer time...and all the while my kids continue their love of learning 😊 I look forward to listening to this whole interview. I really enjoyed a previous interview you did with your wife, so glad to see her on again!

Is it harder to home school to achieve the result than it is to ship your kids off to a liberal indoctrination center and then try to deprogram them in the evenings before bed time? Parenting is hard, but laboring effeciently to the appropriate end I think is net less work. In general I've discovered doing the right thing is always less work than doing the wrong thing. But it requires a level of mental clarity that is hard to achieve and maintain. Watching reruns of friends every night and eating ice cream before bed might be "fun" but it makes the rest of your life much more challenging than fasting after dinner and reading a rewarding book in the company of your spouse and discussing it.

I would advise u not to homeschool during highschool. I was homeschooled from 3rd to 9th grade and it was the best thing for me to go to school in the 10th. There are a lot of social skills and norms u dont learn when being homeschooled. The world is not a fairytale and u need to learn to deal with it. Homeschooling doesnt teach u that, for example.

@@filomenamendes5349 I appreciate your perspective. If you don't mind me asking...how old are you? Homeschooling today looks a lot different than it used to. Kids can get social interaction through various means (co-ops, church classes, sports, etc). I'm not saying you are wrong because I take your position when discussing it with my wife. But the thing to consider is the added social encounters going to outweigh the risks of brick and mortar schools? I can see it helping and hurting

@@filomenamendes5349 it depends on the high school and individual. My high school experience attending a high school with over 1800 kids was not positive socially or academically and if given the opportunity I would have preferred homeschool.
