This is such a timely discussion, especially outside the theological community. The approach to knowledge and understanding a thing presented here is sorely needed today. I thoroughly enjoyed this. Thank you!

The summa was enlightening to me, it felt like it was a moral guide with god thrown in. the arguments against usury are solid and it is disgusting practice and it does not depend on the "supernatural" moral arbitration of a god, it is in fact very Natural. I hold it as one of the greatest works mankind has ever produced regardless of theistic belief. I just searched for it on youtube on a whim, this is a better video than 99% of youtube content, so thanks for it.

I came across the Summa while reading saint Karol Wojtyla's biography by George Weigel. It was a text book he used in teaching Polish seminary students and friends. The Summa can be daunting to those who do not read much. This presentation helps overcome such hesitations. I have watched it more than once as no one I know has accused me of being smart.

Why not? The search for truth is from God. Aquinas presents great reasons for belief in God and Christ.

I'm an Atheist/Agnostic. I'm currently reading it. I'm on p321 rn, and it's a VERY worthwhile read. I think, of course, that a Lutheran can and *should* read it. It's a foundational theological work that the majority of your religion is founded upon. It's also an opportunity to directly read the mind and thoughts of a person who lived 750 years ago! As I'm reading this, I can't help but acknowledge that I'm reading the work of a genius. Genius is like obscenity; you may not be able to describe obscenity or genius, but when you see it, you KNOW that you saw it. This work is genius, even if you reject religion and just view it as philosophy.

Technically, he did. It was just organized by Fr. Reginald, his secretary. The material came from the SCG. 😅

At least get the Latin title of the text right (theologica) and then learn how to pronounce it properly. Amen.
