Even you can land and take off on Minmus with just the rcs jet pack. I did that with a kermin and had enough mp to get back into an orbit. Then I had Valentina who was in the pod to rendezvous over there so that they can get out of Minmus to head back, because I had barely no mp left in the jet pack once I got into orbit.

Personally, this would be my tier list, based not only how interesting the planet is to visit, and not only how easy/difficult it is to reach, but perhaps much more importantly, how non-tedious it would be to explore its various biomes, how useful it would be as a refueling planet, and finally, how easy it is to return to orbit (and thus, how easy it would be to return home): S Tier: - Minmus, Gilly, Bop, and Pol are all here because their sheer lack of gravity not only makes landing on their surfaces so easy, but when combined with them having no atmosphere to slow spacecraft down, also makes biome-hopping for extra science a relatively painless ordeal (not to mention quite profitable), and even makes them ideal places to land refueling stations onto their surfaces (that could then be used to facilitate cheap interplanetary travel for, say, contracts). A Tier: - Mun, Ike, and Dres all fall here for many of the same reasons as why the smaller lower-gravity planets fall into S tier, namely because their relatively low gravity and lack of an atmosphere makes landing on their surfaces, and returning to orbit, comparatively easy. However, their higher gravity compared to the smaller planets still makes biome-hopping a bit more expensive in terms of delta-V, though still somewhat manageable if you either have Convert-O-Trons, or have brought plenty of delta-V along for the expedition. - Despite having high gravity and a dense atmosphere, both of which provide players with the challenge of escaping from a high-gravity planet's atmosphere, and reaching orbit, Kerbin is here because biome-hopping for science is made much more bearable and easy not only because its oxygen-rich atmosphere (which probably makes biome-hopping as inexpensive as any of the S-Tier planets like Minmus) allows for the use of much more efficient jet engines, but the fact that all missions start from its surface alleviates the need to ship a rocket to the planet's surface for any return trips, or to have to escape into orbit of the planet in order to return home to base for that matter. Still, as will be seen with most of the lower-tier planets, the high gravity and dense atmosphere make the planet one of the worst places to establish an interplanetary refueling operation, since it's already quite expensive in terms of delta-V just to get into a low orbit of Kerbin. B Tier: - Moho, Vall, and Eeloo all share common traits with the Mun, Ike, and Dres in A Tier: lack of atmosphere and fairly low gravity both make these planets relatively easier to land on, biome-hop for science, refuel, and return to orbit (though not as easy as S-Tier planets like Minmus, Gilly, Bop, and Pol). However, in addition to their slightly higher gravity making biome-hopping more expensive in terms of delta-V, actually reaching these places, and returning to Kerbin from their surfaces, is quite the expense in and of itself, since Moho orbits so close to the Sun, Eeloo orbits so far from the Sun, and Vall orbits so close to the gas giant Jool, and to make matters worse, with the exception of Vall (which would perhaps be the easiest to return to Kerbin from its surface), Moho and Eeloo both lack nearby planets with atmospheres to use for delta-V-saving aerobraking purposes (whereas you can take advantage of Jool's and Laythe's atmospheres in order to conserve delta-V for reaching Vall). Moreover, since Eeloo is located so far away, you'd need to bring the best relay dish in the game to be able to reliably control any probes that you send over there. C Tier: - Although Duna possesses a reasonably low gravity, making it decent for return trips and refueling runs, the fact that it possesses an atmosphere makes getting to orbit (and returning to Kerbin) from Duna's surface a tad more complicated, though aerobraking would at least help save delta-V for the landing stage (making the delta-V cost of traveling from Kerbin's surface to Duna's surface and back roughly equivalent to traveling from Kerbin's surface to Ike's surface and back). Granted, Duna's atmosphere is thin enough for it to matter little, though what makes it particularly annoying is that atmospheric drag can hamper biome-hopping activities. - Like with Kerbin, getting to the surface of Laythe is easy enough thanks to its thick atmosphere. However, actually getting back into orbit from Laythe's surface is quite expensive, again thanks to its thick atmosphere, though also thanks to its fairly high gravity. This results in a need to not only land a large multi-stage rocket to the planet's surface for the return trip back to Kerbin, but also a round-trip delta-V expenditure roughly similar to Eve's. What redeems this planet is its oxygen-rich atmosphere, which like on Kerbin, makes biome-hopping trivially expensive in terms of delta-V when using the ultra-efficient jet engines. D Tier: - Much like with Kerbin and Laythe, getting to the surface of Eve is easy enough thanks to its thick atmosphere, while escaping from the surface of Eve to Eve's orbit is a serious challenge and expenditure. However, escaping from Eve is made all the more difficult due not only to its thicker atmosphere, but also due to its higher gravity. Moreover, unlike Kerbin's and Laythe's oxygen-rich atmospheres, said thick atmosphere of Eve also makes biome-hopping ruinously expensive in terms of delta-V. (Therefore, in order to make biome-hopping for science more bearable, the usage of Convert-O-Trons is highly recommended.) - Tylo is notorious for its combination of heavy gravity and lack of atmosphere. Normally, a lack of an atmosphere would be useful for making biome-hopping activities less expensive in terms of delta-V, but that's only true for relatively low-gravity worlds like the Mun, Minmus, Moho, Vall, and even Duna if it wasn't burdened with its atmosphere. However, the presence of an atmosphere (especially a thick one like Kerbin's, Laythe's, and Eve's) can also help in providing drag to help slow the descent of landers without having to expend fuel (and thus, conserve delta-V on landing), either through wings, or through parachutes. This, unfortunately, not only makes landing onto its surface an expensive ordeal, but makes biome-hopping for science a nightmare (especially without Convert-O-Trons). F Tier: - Is the science deep down in the depths of Jool's atmosphere worth it? Should you decide to dive deep into the depths of Jool's atmosphere (an easy enough task, as with all the other planets with thick atmospheres) before returning back to Kerbin, then you'd better have lots, and I do mean LOTS, of delta-V on board in order to have a chance of escaping Jool's massive atmosphere, plus extra in order to escape from its gravity well. Unlike, say, Eve or Tylo, not even Convert-O-Trons can help you here, since, well, Jool has no ground to land on. - Finally, diving down to low orbit of the sun (Kerbol) itself is a massive challenge in and of itself. Not only would it be expensive in terms of delta-V to even get into an elliptical orbit that'll allow the ship to dip within low orbit of the sun, but you would need to include some robust radiators in order to have a fair shot at surviving the sun's intense heat at so close of a distance, all for what? A limited amount of science from within low orbit of the sun? Again, not even Convert-O-Trons can help you here, since not only will trying to land on the sun's surface result in instant destruction, but chances are that your spacecraft would melt from the sun's intense heat long before even reaching the surface.

ah, I wondered when you were going to 'op on the tier list. I shalt observe the video and then explain to you how utterly badly you screwed up the ranking. Or not. Depending on your judgement of planetary worth I suppose. EDIT: I will now explain away the confusion of Laythe. The answer is 'ere: the tidal forces of Jool heat Laythe, allowing it to sustain liquid water on the surface. The internal geological activity heats the surface- evidently the crust is very thin on Laythe, explaining the geysers that can be found on it's islands. Finally the salt content of the water allows it to stay fluid in slightly colder temperatures. Ok rant over. Hope this helps.

Late to the game, but for me: S: Kerbin A: Mun, Duna, Laythe B: Eve, Ike, Tylo, Ike (I like Ike because you can see what Libration looks like from both Duna and Ike, the only bodies in KSP with that distinction) C: Jool and its other moons (I like their looks, but don't offer enough different challenge to be notable) D: Gilly, Minmus (I like Minmus's look, but avoid going there because it's too easy-mode for career mode and science mode) F: Eeloo (too far), Dres (too boring)

Now Eeloo has an updated texture, I'd put it on... B tier. It looks pretty, but there's nowhere to go without a lot of work. Mun I'd chuck into F tier because mid-grey depresses me and I've had SO MANY CRASHES there! 2 of the crashes were pretty awesome and all of them can be blamed on my lack of skills when I started playing, but they traumatized me, you know? ;) I'm totally not being fair by putting it in F tier. Eve: C. Positive: Looks amazing from orbit and great for gravity assists (which I never do). Negative: The surface is nothing but mind-numbingly monotonous monochrome magenta. I sent a drone plane there. I tried to like it. There was nothing to like! Though there might be a couple of features I could use. I'm thinking of a cliff-side base around the highest mountain, leaving the top free for landings, and having mining and fuel storage. There's also a small fluid-filled crater which would be an amazing place to launch an Eve equivalent of Sea Dragon. Bop: C because orbit and dullness. I guess I'm more interested in building bases than dead kraken. :) Moho I haven't tried to get to, though I kind-of like the surface. Judgement reserved. Minmus gets an S because everything. :) It's the home of my mining operations, the place I learned to dock, and one of my favourite-looking places in the game. Pol gets an A because it's almost as easy and useful as Minmus but has no flat... anything. Kerbin and Laythe both get S; Kerbin having gorgeous scenery in places, while Laythe is more exotic and fun to play in the space around it. Jool: Hmm... A. I want to build a cloud base but it's a bit plain under the cloud-tops. That would make it a B, but it's a lovely sight from its moons, pushing it up a slot. Tylo: S for the handiest gravity assists in the system and landing is challenging without being too hard. Vall: S because I super-like its new texture. Dres: B; not bad, and a slightly warmer tone than the Mun. Duna: B because on the one hand, it's really cool with its unique (in the system) atmosphere and relationship to Ike, but on the other hand I can't really stomach that red for too long, when on the surface. (I've spent much less time there than I have on Eve.) Ike: B; interesting orbit & relationship to Duna, but dull surface. In Parallax 2, Laythe would redefine S tier for me, bumping Kerbin down to A tier because it's all relative. ;) Eve would probably move up, but I'm not sure how far. Ike might get an A with its crystals, but maybe not; the colour is a bit loud. I think it's Vall that would reach S tier with _its_ crystals, but I might be thinking of something else. Minmus might drop a tier because I don't quite like how Parallax 2 makes it look and because I'd probably up sticks and move to the Jool system with some mod. ;) Jool might move up to S, I don't know yet. I'm writing all this when I haven't even got a computer capable of running Parallax 2. I spent way too long on this for a KZbin comment, but it was fun. :D

well, I would put Laythe on S I mean, it's a watery planet, possibly with life, that feels rewarding to get to. not to mention, with mods that add better graphics, has a very nice view of Jool and the other Joolian moons. I would put Kerbin on A or B. Yeah, it's where kerbals come from. yeah, it may be the only place with life. it's still a bit boring because you don't have to do anything to get there. you start on kerbin, your first rockets stay within kerbin. it gets boring after a few failed launches.

Moho: A craters and being on the surface looks awesome and I like the general feel. Eve: D too purple, it just hurts my eyes, it's flat purple and then hills then more purple hydrocarbons. Gilly: C it's ok easy to get to and not Eve Kerbin: B tier, it's important, it looks good, but everything starts and revolves around using it so it gets too boring. Mun: F tier, too many craters I want Ike-esque basalt flats and some extra craters, not just craters. Minmus: D not detailed enough, bases are always too Kraken-y Duna: C not flat enough, too overhypped for some orange, needs both parachutes and engines and that gets inefficient Ike: A tier, the mun but better, maybe some easter eggs or a big surface feature and it'd be perfect. Dres: D not detailed enough Jool but with less variety in sub-destinations Jool: A, pretty and has my all-time favourite body Laythe: B too much water, more ice with water pockets and the atmosphere and it'd be awesome; just replace duna with it Vall: S TIER, great beautiful ice plains, it's a pretty detailed Minmus with perfect gravity for landing but enough for stability Tylo: C tier, it's big and kinda pretty but balancing TWR with landing and Dv is stressful Bop: F tier, minmus but boring and gross colour Pol: C tier, idk what to say I went there once and it was yellow and piss coloured Eeloo: S tier, Vall's sibling, I wanna give them company and it also has perfect gravity and the shiny ice plains

I completely disagree with Moho, other than the Mohole the delta V requirements makes it a challenge, and its a good destination to aim for when you want to challenge your gravity assisting skills, that combined with it being so far and all on its own really makes it feel like you're adventuring into the unknown, it's a great destination and gives you a rewarding feeling.

moho may be hard to get to, but it has some very epic terrain variety as well. crater basins, huge mountains, some (rather shallow yet still existent) canyons/rilles, wrinkle ridges et cetera. basing 100% of the planet's score on its accessibility or lack thereof is very uncool, so pls don't do that bro
