I put 160 rounds of Hornady varmint 40grn through the folding under version at the club last week, the rifle ran like a sewing machine. Brilliant piece of kit!

Nice to have an option for a decent AK beyond the crappy Armi Jäger or GSG versions. I used to own of three Saiga 22s which FSU Connections brought into the country years ago and they were amazing, effectively a real 1960s AKM converted to a .22 by the factory. The only downside was non-availability of spare magazines which I had to make for myself out of Bakelite 7.62 mag shells with CZ guts. I miss that gun. You can find a review I did of it on Full Bore UK. If I was to have this new rifle I’d want to make my own steel or Bakelite mags for it too, the standard ones detract from the overall look.

The mags are going to have the same issue as the M&P mags… it’s a cheeky way of making more money… that said… still want one!

As for the plastic locking lugs on the mag, some real AK mags are made the same way. Obviously metal would be better. But my Polish WBP mags with plastic locking lugs have held up rather well running them in my Serbian Zastava M92. Also unfortunately no more warranty on these as Pioneer Arms just recently closed.

That selector is designed to hold the bolt open as you described. There’s a few US forums of guys running these and theirs are working as they should but mine isn’t (neither apparently are anyone’s in the UK) it seems like the selector has been modded slightly with that extra little lip which is not allowing it to work. Soon fixed with a Dremel!

Would love to of seen it shot from a bench on a front rest at 50m. Just to gauge accuracy. Other than that it looks like a great bit of kit.
