Did you check the ribbon yourself as that might have not the reason. It requires the external device Pioneer AVIC-X1 to operate. I think you didn't connect that that's why its in security mode.

Yes this car stereo doesn't have radio box as all other radios have. I don't know how the radio tuner works in this car stereo because my car stereo didn't work and I sold it for parts.

Buenas tardes no entiendo nada de inglés pero si se que le pasa a la radio . Lo e arreglado varias veces , es muy simple . En la parte de abajo hay una tapita con 2 tornillos pequeños si la desmontas verás en cable flexible con el radio encendido empuja en flexible hacia la ficha de donde se sujeta

Yes, but i sold this car stereo for parts because i doesn't find ribbon cable. It's hard nowdays to find parts for old car stereos.

I found out the hard way about this situation i bought a brand new pioneer just like this and it came with the hide away unit but it didn't come with the harness.this type of pioneer has to be plugged into a hide away unit for it to work at all.
