only the 2000's have a waveform on the display. The 900's have a display of the track being played. You can see where the high & low points of a song are as per the display. It is however very small. Keep in mind that it IS NOT a waveform display. Just a display of the track being played. As the track plays a little line moves along the track to show where it is in the song. So you can at least see when a big drop is coming up. Hope this was helpful

@agiprodj well i bought two cdj 2000s and a cdj 900. i found myself enjoying the cdj 900 more because of the slip mode and beat effects it all fits in with my type of genre of music i play, the only flaw in the cdj 900s is the screen and wave display its noting compared to the cdj 2000s dont get me wrong here but the cdj 2000s are great i love them hot cues big screen good wave display the 4 and 8 button loop what more would a dj want.

@agiprodj I use the cdj 2000s to cue up 8 songs so im not rushing to pick songs. they are both great cdjs id recommend to anyone buy 2 cdj 2000s and 2 cdj 900s not 4 cdj 2000s then you have the best of both worlds. i have just bought online 1 more cdj 900 and il be very happy when it arrives il be broke now but i love my music : }

it simple, do you prefer hot cues or been able to play from a usb drive? if you really like playing with hot cues go for the 1000MK3 if you hate burning CDs and you to organize your track and load them on a usb stick bo buy a pair of 900s

its a hassle to switch to songs and for scratching the 1000mk3's jog wheel is better because it has two knobs for setting. Also it reads ipods but, if u have a hard drive you have to convert to FAT 32. But if u put a password on your hard drive your screwed it wont read.

@dezo125 The cdj 900 read's USB key and cd's so you just need to put your mp3 in there.. the ipod can also be used plug into the mixer but you'll loose a lot of caracteristics like loop, cue, pitch etc..

it is a Pioneer mixer, either the DJM 850 or 900 it looks like. alot of people customize them by adding the knobs instead of the faders. with digital djing being the new "in" thing you see more and more people adding knobs and buttons instead of faders and jog wheels. they work better for mapping and playing live. alot of Djs i play before or after at clubs are now completely disabling the cross fader and only using the channel knobs to mix

@funkyharry I was using one the other day, they do have a small waveform at the top which is kinda small but still shows you everything you need but but I still say the CDJ1000mk3 Waveform is better. @Perisanbmw94 I like it better than the 1000mk3 w/ the new screen, autoloops and USB Drives. It would think its more of a personal choice though

I know that you can't use the rekordbox prepared ABC hot cues on the 900. But can you toggle between them using the cue call? Or do you have to set the "memory cues" to be able to search for them on the player?

when you prepare the hot cue on rekordbox A B C memory , you can use the cue call , and works with all cdj with this function!

can you tell me where you get the hard drive from. i have a usb memory stick but i can only get ones up to 256gb and i tried an external hard drive on the of these players but it would not read the files. thank you

Hey, my name is Dean. I recently just bought a pair of the cdj-900's and I have been trying to plug in a flash drive in order to spin without using a laptop in general. I plugged in the flash drive with music on it and the cdj said no usb found. i tried again and it said that I needed to format it. I then tried an external hard drive. Same exact message popped up on the screen. I formatted the drive to fat and it still doesn't work. Can you please help me to figure out this problem? Thanks -Dean

Andres Rios looks as though you can, but you can only move back or forward by one cue point at a time using the arrows to the right of the loop in / out buttons. Quite limiting.

Slip mode basically keeps the song playing, muted, when you are modifying it, and then resumes the track where it would have been, had you not modified it.
