On the Rekorbox version the in & out also gives you 1/2x or 2x looping no need to press shift- the screen on the jog wheels give you waveforms, cue points, bpm, artwork, etc.. Also no Serato post fader effects or flip on the controller. Seems like Pioneer purposely waited a year and short changed us with the Serato version of this controller. Thank goodness the jog wheels are awesome.

Nice review DJ Barr.. You should try the XDJ-XZ it’s definitely larger and has the more pro IEC power connector.. It has curve adjustment through the menu.. Plus a screen built in

I have both versions at home, but the srt is as you said Gold, i bought it last year when i met you at Dj Expo. Great features as you pointed out , no need to upgrade for a long time. Enjoy yours and look forward to seeing you use it at a future event.

Make sure you update the firmware! I also adjusted my crossfader cut lag setting too. Made a big difference.

Please do a side-by-side comparison with the Numark NS7. I think the NS7 edges it out do to the motorized platters which feels the same as using real vinyl turntables.

At 5:30 you mention wanting to have a tap tempo. I am pretty sure that I saw somewhere that you can TAP the right beat button while holding the SHIFT down and you get the tap tempo.

Don't you have a problem with the jogwheel on the right? I have issues with it, it is stiff and makes a lot of noise when spinning, compared to the left one. It seems like this is a manufacturing problem. Any thoughts or experiences? Thanks for the vid!

I got the regular DDJ1000 instead of the SRT about one year ago. After doing some research I found out that Pioneer claims the looseliness is within the margin but that is definitely not the case, since there is such a big difference. It only happened after a couple of months.

Sander Blom i have the same problem. The jog wheel on the left is way loose than the right one. It is way to stiff.

@DJ ATM, take your time and compare both units, do your research. I’m on my second primo unit and have run into nothing but issues on both. Jog wheels and pitch faders don’t respond properly. A lot of tweeking and firmware updates required. Once working dough, it’s a great controller for the price. I’m still testing it and have considered returning it if issues persist. Maybe go the pioneer route for the extra buck. Bottom line is, these controller need work right out of the box and be plug and play with minimum issues.

They are like chalk and cheese... the Prime 4 is a standalone system... it has an onboard pc which runs Denon's DJ software... this one doesn't... also the Prime has a slot you can fit a hard drive into.... but in terms of build quality, size and layout I'd have to say this one wins... the Prime 4 just feels too busy...

@DJ Barr, I normally used a small mixer to connect all my speakers, wireless mic and 1000SRT controllers. I am thinking about using one speaker monitor behind or next to me. Do you recommend to connect the monitor speakers direct to either left or right channel of the controller or connect to the mixer.. My mixer does have monitor output too.. Let me know.. thanks

I use Rekordbox with my DDJ-1000 and Serato with my DJM-S9. The Rekordbox version of the DDJ-1000 is much better. In fact, Serato is seriously lacking in comparison. On the RB DDJ-1000 you have RB FX on your pads. And you can cue loops (saved loop as a cue point). I have no idea why those simple things aren’t in Serato. Considering getting the RB DVS for my S9.

correction you can adjust midi map a knob you don't use at all to control that and if you need it sharper power on your controller while holding shift and play button on the left deck and the internal control panel comes on the fx display.. thank me later..

I think the DJ world needs a DDJ-800SRT to cater for Serato users, if Pioneer can produce the DDJ-1000SRT the software exists to use on the DDJ-800 and give a wider choice to Serato users, I have nothing against Rekordbox but I am used to Serato and want to stay with it but get the benefits of the on Jog displays and the full size tempo fader etc.

My DDJ-SX2 is starting to have issues... Right platter not consistently responsive for scratching, randomly stops playing mid track, etc. Have been thinking about the 1000. Want to stay with Serato for a few reasons... Serato user for several years (since SSL), lots of Serato cue points set, and I have a SoundSwitch DMX lighting controller that doesn't work with RB. I mostly DJ weddings and corporate events. I do mix and scratch, but I rarely use any effects, so the lack of Serato FX controls and needle drop strip isn't an issue. Two years later, do you still think this is a great controller? Is there something else I should consider?

All depends on which software you use... they are exactly the same controller... just that the original is $100 less, the Serato version does not control Serato effects on deck and the jog displays show less information. Otherwise you are good with either... just remember the original will not work with Serato and the SRT will not work with Rekordbox

The original 1000 for rekordbox dj is better. The srt is extremely limited compared to the original. The problem is people don't want to take a chance on rekordbox dj. So with the srt they settle for less. Imo.

I have so much DJ Gear, 3 Turntable complete set up with speaker to do 3 different parties, 2 controls(wego3, SX2) and 1 numark 2go and 1 numark 2go touch. I finally truthfully saved up on a different bank account (my night table) all my change, 1s,and 5s. I now have about 1600 to buy this controller but of course my son in law had a near death motorcycle accident so all my money has been going to my daughter for her and their kids. But Im ready to have a 2nd night table draw to save my change or fount laundry money..I NEED THIS THING. Normally I would put it on one of my many credit cards but Im slowing paying them off 1 by 1....Am I over hyping this controller? Is it really that good?
