I had a 1000, sold it when I moved, then purchased the 800 when I got settled in new place. It is a solid unit, performs as well as the 1000, just lacking 2 channels and smaller jogs. If you want to hook up turntables or CDJS, I would say get the 1000, but if you aren't, then this will suit you just fine. You can use the AUX as a 3rd channel if need be. I do feel the price is a little much for what it is BUT you can get the 800 and and Ody flight case for less than the 1000, which is a perk. Currently saving up for the new standalone Pioneer unit and a pair of PLXs for my studio room, but am keeping the 800 for gigs outside the house. Any questions, I have had 800 for 5 months now and use it frequently, so I have really put it through the motions. I really don't see many reviews on the 800 but it should have a little more prominent exposure imo.

So it has proper sound quality to take it out for gigs I suppose? (I wanna upgrade from entry level controller, I used serato till now but I really like the ddj-800 and I'm ready to make the swich to Recordbox)

@@DJ-Dorian It most definitely is an upgrade. I still feel the price is a bit much, if you can shell out the extra money for the 1000, do it. But as said I got a nice case and the 800 for right about $1000. Rekordbox is good. I have some mixed feelings about it turning into a subscription service, however you can still get the job done using the free version.

@@houstoner so with the free Recordbox I can benefit of all the dj controller functions? I understand that the 1000 is better but it's with almost 400$ more expensive here so I prefer the DDJ 800 for my budget.

@@DJ-Dorian Unless you plan on using DVS, video or lighting, you won't have to worry about it. I do subscribe to the DVS and lighting, but I actually use those functions at my gigs. In a way it pays for itself but it sucks that you can't just make a one time payment like you used to. Now a loophole is if you buy hardware like a SP1 or DMX controller then it's included. Has to be Pioneer brand though. TL;DR - Don't worry about it. The controller is hardware unlock on RB so don't even need to type in a license key. Hope this info helps. Let me know how you like it when you get it. It is a nice unit. And truth be told, it is laid out very similarly to a club standard setup, which is a huge perk if you plan on going that route eventually.

I got the DDJ 800 recently and the moment i installed the software and turned the hardware on, recordbox would crash and then carry on playing the song then crash again without me doing anything at all. What to do ☹️ I mailed to pioneer dj but they want a video of the issue but it will happen anytime while playing song in 1 to 2 hours. Please reply 🙏

Buddy you did good discription for ddj 800, but the audio quality was very bad. As audio level was going low many times. So it was getting difficult to understand wat u was saying.

This thing is a peace of plastic trash, the center is held together by plastic. lean on the jog wheel and it will snap in the middle and if it happens after a year you might as well toss it in the trash becuase it will cost over 500 to 600 to get it fixed do not waste your money.
