Nice, but why isn’t the front display working? The US version of this was my main player for about 11 years, had a few issues though. Has been sitting retired since then.

Thank you. Display is working, I have very bright work light. If you pause 20:45 and zoom in the front display you can see it. 😃

my DVL-909 has a slightly greenish vertical bar on the left part of the image, only when I play LD. It is not a disc problem as it does not appear on the S-104. Have you ever seen a similar problem?

Hello. No, I haven't seen that exact problem before. Some in measurements with an oscilloscope, then you quickly find out where the problem is. If you are lucky, you can see it if you take an inspection. The DVL machines have SMD electrolytic capacitors which can fail and leak.

good repair , very thorough , the diagnostics on the display for dvd how did you enable that ? the laserdisc alignment of where laser switches to side B and the adjustment of the plastic 24:12 , i have myself 4 channel rigol oscilloscope and i see you're adjusting the plastic screw for frequency Mhz read out on the scope , i not aligned my 909 as it has mis-tracking of the disc with skipping at less than 1 min , laser skips back few seconds , i think the Mhz frequency maybe have come undone by tiny fraction ? i can use visual search skip the laser past 40 seconds and then it plays fine so do you attach the probes on main board to a test output for read out on the scope ? also i don't have , ( laserdisc test disc ) those are rather rare

I use a pioneer service remote to activate service mode. That classic b side skipping in the beginning (within 5 minutes) can be caused by many things, not always alignment issue. If it is not root cause, you can in most cases adjust it out off spec so it would play without skipping. If locking screw is in original position with original sealing, then this is probably not root cause off skipping. If it is loose and sealing is broken it can be root cause. I connect and adjust accordingly to service manual. Probes are connected to the main board. Without a oscilloscope and a test disc, it will be a hit and miss. Never tried with oscilloscope and a random disc, so cant tell how a random disc will act. Test disc is CAV.

Good morning, great video but I don't see exactly the elements that you test with the multimeter and I would have liked to have the explanations of the components that you remove, a diagram or a photo surrounding the components to be removed that would be great. I have the same problem with my 919, it worked for a while then impossible to turn it on. Could the problem be the same as on your player? => I can imagine that it is difficult (or even impossible) to diagnose a fault without having the device in front of you. I can take pictures of the power board if you need :) I have a Pioneer LC-V100 Autochanger with its control device (CO-V100 and its "big" remote control) all purchased in Italy for 200 EUR, the whole thing still works perfectly, it took me 2/3 days to find the little trick to read all the LDen only once because without manipulation via the remote control the reading of the LD stopped at the 1st chapter (it was in Karaoke mode) I also have 2 pairs of Pioneer PD-F1007 connected as a duo to a small amp, again the 2 pairs work really well. I acquired a Pioneer PD-F1009 5/6 months ago which no longer works thinking that I could repair it but no (visually you can see that the card has become problem because there are 2/3 components which have burned out ) do you have a video on the board of a PD-F1009 in perfect condition so that I can compare with mine? Hello. Thanks for that. It already takes many enough hours to make the videos without lots of explanations, diagrams, etc. So far, I'm not making any money on KZbin. So working is more prioritized, but maybe sometime in the future. You have to start somewhere.. The first thing I check is whether the fuse is intact, then I check the voltage on the primary and secondary side. Secondary side has too low voltage. Then I change all electrolytic capacitors. Yes, it is possible that it is the same problem, but it can also be very much different.. Yes, diagnosing correctly without having the player on the bench is almost impossible. I can only guess based on experience. A picture of a power supply doesn't help me much. Can't measure anything on a picture. No, I don't have any video of the Pioneer PD-F1009 card. Never had a player like that either. Have you tried searching online or looking in a service manual? Thank you, have a good day you too. :-)

My DVL-909 seems to be in great shape aside from two issues. Issue 1- there is a small amount of horizontal static that can appear and disappear despite what disc is in it. Static does not appear when playback has stopped or when a dvd is playing. Just laserdiscs, and always in the same spot. My theory is possibly a capacitor in the power supply, but I'm no expert. My other issue is that the player is a bit noisy when a LD is starting up, when I skip chapters, and when it goes from side a to side b Thoughts?

Issue 2: It can be: Old and dirty grease, m-holder, needs new calibration etc etc.

I have a dvl909 ntsc that one day stopped working. It does nothing. I found a ‘working’ complete power supply board and changed it out but same thing. Nothing. Any thing else easy to check?

Yes, start by measuring voltages on the primary and secondary side instead. Are you really sure the other power supply is ok?

⁠@@Magnus.Skovrand No just based on the eBay ad saying working power supply. Would measuring the output voltages on the pins of CN203 and CN202 tell anything?

Using Pin 1 ground. Pin 2 getting -11.3v & pin 3 getting fluctuating (increasing) mV. So I guess got problems still with the “new” power supply!

On the original PS I clipped one side of the D105 as I read to try. (Didn’t change anything) on this PS CN203 pin 2 is -.20v and pin 3 is .18v Guess I need to find a new PS or send somewhere to fix. I wouldn’t know how to proceed from here! Thanks!!

Hello my name is Bill , I have dvl- v888 . Your video service DVl -909 looks similar without karaoke.I like your video. My DVl - v888 got problems sometimes stuck the dvd disc and Ld. Atm my favourite LD stuck on tray. DVD didn’t open to take LD out. Please show me how to do manually remove the try out.i love this dvd is good Karaoke. Anyway, can you do big service like your video. Thanks for your video, I hope you can do my DVl -v 888 on KZbin.

@@Magnus.Skovrand No, I don't think it's profitable. If possible, use your advice and experience. I have basic test and measurement equipment. Some experience and knowledge. But there is no experience specifically with LD devices. They have not found popularity in my country, so I don’t know any experienced technicians either.

@@Денис-ю6г5г I understand. Unfortunately, I don't have time to spend a lot of time on free diagnostics, it's not profitable for me. I am drowning in inquiries regarding free diagnostics and inquiries to send in for repair. Then the choice is easy. It is also very difficult to give the diagnosis online and it ends up being enormously time-consuming.

@Magnus.Skovrand Yes, you are absolutely right - the task is not an easy one and such a path is extremely suboptimal. I’ll try to figure it out on my own in case the beginner’s luck factor happens. 😊Still, it’s a hobby and a fun way to spend time. Thanks for the answers, and exuse me for the disturb.
