Pioneer PD-M701 Skipping Fixed

in this way to fking long video i very sloppily fix worn out rubber boots causing the CD player to skip constantly. and i fix a broken 8 button

I have that exact machine at home. Bought as a 2nd hand, the original owner was playing around with the ribbon as attempt to try to fix, which they shouldn't do! Had it fixed, fortunately the technician had a extra parts for ribbon and had to replace one of the capacitor as it was dying! So, all fixed up and good to go! Luckily the optical is intact without falling out! Enjoying since!

I have this player and as with all Pioneers the mechanics are the same. Your problem is very simple. Have you or anyone else worked on this unit? The problem is that the rubber cushions are wrong side up!! The screws should hold the laser unit tight. Also if it skipping you have to adjust the height of the laser to disc by turning the front screw on top of the laser unit. 1 is for height and the other is to adjust the 6 discs!! Simple fix.

I Might have to pull this back out and check that out. i never gave the rubber pads upside down any thought lol. I Dont know if anyone worked on it before but you never know with used gear thats over 20 years old. I could have also figured out the laser adjustment if i just got the service manual for it

I remember the Pioneer units had a problem with skipping. What causes that? I don't mess with CD players much. One I fixed yrs ago the disc was spinning too fast, found a pot to adjust the speed down and it played, I assume they use a marked disc and strobe to set speed. Most had loading drawer belt issues. I used to get them at Pawn shops for cheap not working. Got a Sony 200 disc changer at goodwill, the loading mechanism was out of whack, I think it got bent, I got it fixed and loading CDs fine. The CDs had to be clean and the grabber pads had to be clean, if you handled a cd and got skin oil on the edge it would slip away during loading and make a mess. You had to pull the cover and untangle the mess, and damaged CDs. Bad design Sony.

The springs in pioneer car cd players drop and cause this same issue too, but only with cd-r playback

My Pioneer PD M 455 6 cartridge is loading only 1,2,3,4.5 cd's....6 is not loaded...any advice to fix that?Thank you!

Title states skipping, but thats part of the reason i stoped uploading to this channel. Shit goes on for wayyyy to long with nothing getting done lol. I Do however start listing the issues around the 4:25 mark tho after i got done showing off the deck mech
