HOLY CRAP! Why is there not a link to this video printed on the ####ing box?!?!? I've spent a week sifting through the various poorly composed instruction books and hundreds of websites and YT videos. I even wound up buying two connection cables I didn't need based on the cluster $&@¥ of confusing diagrams printed on pages 13-16 of the install manual. This video is all that needed to be seen. Thanks for FINALLY clearing this up. I nearly pulled the damn thing out and sold it at a loss.

Any HDMI cable is fine to use, but bear in mind that sometimes the cheapers ones can fail quickly. Yes All the USB cable does is supply the charge to the phone so you can use one of the cables connected to the head unit already. Make sure the AV adapter you purchase is a genuine one from Apple, the copies and cheap ones often dont work.

Good video. Helped a lot. However, I cannot get WAZE to come up on my car screen. Each time I try I'm asked to start a compatible appradio app on my phone. Navmii comes up okay as does photos, calendar and others, however I'd like to be able to use Waze if possible. Any suggestions?

My AppRadio3 SPH-DA210 worked fine with my iphone4, but now I have an iphone6 so what cables do I keep connected and what cables do I need to buy so that I can use the AppRadio3 with my iphone6? My radio is 16 months old & I hope its not obsolete.

I need help with this . Like I can get app radio to appear on the radio . But when I click the app it says it's opening on my phone but it just stays there and low the app but doesn't do anything else. I have newer 2015 models. Maybe my usb cable set up wrong or what? Note: works fine on android devices

Hi this radio does support CarPlay just make sure that the USB connection is connected to USB1(top USB) and the settings are set to iPhone USB1 and CarPlay on. When you plug your phone directly into the USB cable CarPlay will launch

Hello, I have the sph-da120 and I want to use app radio mode I feel apple carplay is restricted. so I have to buy the apple AV adapter for my iphone 6 as well as an hdmi cable... can it be any cable or does it have to be the pioneer one? as far as the usb cable i can use one of the two connected to my radio now? thank you!

Just tried this and when the pop up appears to launch the radio app it doesn’t connect to the radio, any thoughts?

Thank you for your quick response . I still did not understand . To use CarPlay , I only connected lightning cable to usb 1(top) and turn on CarPlay at smartphone setting.According to the installation Manuel page13, I should be able to use CarPlay , but didn't work. Do I need HDMI cable + lightning av adaptor to use CarPlay? Thanks again.

That's correct. Hdmi and digital AV adapter is only needed for Appradio mode, which is a different function. If you have Carplay set up correctly and your iPhone is running the latest iOS version and it still doesn't work, then we suggest you visit your nearest dealer to have a look

Hey, we recommend using one of the supplied USB extension cables wired from the back so that the lightning cable can be removed easily and the USB for updates inserted.

+Juan Galarza unfortunately not, it will need to be removed and the USB extension added. That is why these units are supplied with the USB extension cables, to allow easy access to the ports for update. Thanks

I just had mine installed and they only used the usb to lightning cable and it works great. Why would I need the hdmi cable as well to be connected?

Sounds like your using Carplay which is via single USB cable. If hdmi would be used for Appradio mode, which is a different thing all together.

James Hi, Yes there is, As long as you have your illumination wire wired correctly, the unit will dim when your headlights are switched on

sav libnos you need to change the connection type. Make sure you Bluetooth pair it first and that when checking the connection settings you have the 2 arrows highlighted. all should work with out issue

The closest I gett to using the appradio'app' is I see the icon lit up , but then the APPS icon has an X on it ..it is hard to explain... But I am trying to get the compatible NAVMII to work...

+bruceman3232 make sure you have the latest NavMii and Appradio apps. Also make sure the unit settings are correct, and you have a genuine (from Apple) HDMI adapter. If you use a cheap adapter then they often do not work. once the settings are correct, and the cables are connected, pair the phone via Bluetooth, and plug the phone in. The apps icon will highlight, you can press the mode button to enter the app selection screen and select navmii

+Pioneer Car Technical the appsradio icon does light up on the radio, however the apps(top left corner) icon has an X ... thanks for helping man, I feel so electronically illiterate!! however the apparadio was installed professionally. they did use apple HDMI wirng though.

If you have the icon with an X then it means the phone isn't being recognised. Check the cables, sometime HDMI cables can cause connectivity issues.

On the back of the head unit there are (2) USB slots. In order for Apple Carplay to work it MUST be plugged into the 1st slot - I found this out almost a year after I had mine incorrectly installed at Best Buy and they tried to sell me on some special cable. It wasn't until I attempted to do a software update, that I discovered the issue. Mine works money now.

I am looking to confirm it is compatible entirely; ALL functions as it depicts on the box ? .... everyone seems to think it doesn't and wont work with the Iphone 6.

LJay B Jr. Ok so which every model you have. The iPhone 6 shouldn't make any difference to compatible functions. There has been issues with some iPhone 6 that cause blue tooth connection issues but this isn't a limitation of the Pioneer unit- on units that we have tested, all functions work as they should. There is a bug within its 8 that affects the keyboard when used with in certain apps. But this should be fixed soon

Sean Lin if you only have connection via lightning cable then you wont have access to apps. For CarPlay, make sure that the lightning cable is connected into the the Top USB socket on the rear of the unit (USB 1) with in the Smartphone settings make sure that the settings are set for CarPlay, and then all will work.

MIchal Navrátil is it connected to the top USB socket on the back of the unit? Are the settings for CarPlay correct with in the smartphone settings on the unit? Have a look through our other videos for the CarPlay one.

Pioneer Car Technical - Ok, I downgrade the IOS to 8.2 and now WORK , but when I set language to my /Czech/ then dont work. So now I install ios 8.3 and set language to English and work again. Probably work only with English.

Apple only support CarPlay in certain countries and languages: Australia Canada France Germany Hong Kong Italy Japan Mexico Republic of Korea Singapore Spain Switzerland Taiwan UK USA Anything out side of this, it will not work

Hi You can have the wiring connected at the same time, but to switch between CarPlay and Appradio mode you will need change the settings on the headunit, and change the cable you connect it to. thanks

Correct. You will need the AppRadio connections connected to the HDMi and to USB2 (to allow power) This then leaves USB 1 free. you can connect an extension in here. if you want to use CarPlay then you can connect your phone cable and phone, If you want to watch a video from USB then you can remove the phone cable and connect the USB stick.

You cannot see video from CarPlay, you will only be able to watch video from USB stick, or By using AppRadio Mode via certain Apps - for Example EC touch will let you watch KZbin videos.

Hi, so the GPS antenna that comes with the pioneer 120... What is that for ? It isn't for maps on car play as it uses my 3G so is it for app radio mode (the navi ) ?
