PARIS DUPREE IS ONE OF THE ORIGINALS OF THE HARLEM DRAG BALL SCENE THAT STARTED IN THE LATE 60'S EARLY 70'S. HERE SHE IS EXPLAINING HOW THE SCENE ALL STARTED WITH THE ICON CRYSTAL LABEIJA AND HOW THE HOUSES ORIGINIATED. THIS WAS AT THE ICON BALL IN ATLANTA 2006.
THE HARLEM DRAG BALL SCENE SPANS OVER 50 YEARS AND IS STILL THRIVING TO THIS DAY NATIONWIDE AND INTERNATIONALLY.

Just the fact alone that they were not in the closet, they dare to be who they was out in public and fight for that right To be who they are especially at a time when it was not OK and would have easily cost you your life, your job, your place of living. Now fast forward to 2019. Gay rights bill in enacted, equality and marriage bill enacted. You would not have been able to say publicly who you were and still be around to talk about it, so yes they paid a great price and order for you to be who you are today never forget that

I don't think so. The girl with Crystal in "The Queen" was a finalist from Fire Island, while Paris in this video talks about her growing up in Harlem. So I don't think it's the same person. I too would like to know more about the queens from that era, but unfortunately almost nothing exists as the majority of photos/videos taken of that time have not been digitized and uploaded onto the internet. :(

Not the house balls for black n latina houses started in the 70s with Crystal Labej4 lost a Drag pageant in 1967 harlem called the Queen Crystal and Lottie started the house to have there own ball and pageant from the racist whites of the time
