Composer: He Xie
Pipa: Cai Ziyue
Konghou: Wu Lin
The sentiment of the piece is derived from the famous poem To the Tune of Chang Xiang Si by the renowned early Qing Dynasty poet, Nalan Xingde, particularly the lines, "The shrieking snowstorm breaks my dream; Of my peaceful, tranquil home." The composition uses the "pearls dropping onto a jade plate" effect of the pipa and the konghou's fluid, cloud-streaming sound to represent the imagery of "hometown" and "elsewhere." It portrays Nalan Xingde standing in the cold, windy night hundreds of years ago during the Frost's Descent, gazing towards his distant hometown, his heart filled with longing and affection.
"With frost's descent, the sky finds peace; Autumn's errands quicken with the western breeze." As the chapter of the season turns to Frost's Descent, we approach the last solar term of autumn, heralding the onset of winter. Upon entering this solar term, all things reach fruition, and the deep autumn scenery becomes pronounced.
