@@Gooooooomba his instrument is actually his own construction of a tubulum a percusion baised pipe instrument. Most are more spread out than the one that he has made but the sound is pretty much the same. The sound is comeing from the flip flop pushing a conclusive force of air through a length of pipe, the length of the pipe changing the pitch of the sound. And in the right acoustic environment (such as in the valley created by the tall buildings around him) it is very much posible for a flip flop to vreat that sharp crack.

The youtube comment meme escalated to 11 points of "actually a decent joke". Well done. Greetings from Latvia. At 3:18 the guy (which guy? Ah, the pipe guy!) has something from the White Stripes going on, if I'm not mistaken. Seven Nation Army, the one brilliantly featured in the Simpsons. Edited: a pretty decisive election has come and gone, a bloody, useless war is raging - yet here we are, tens of thousands of people in the comments - and hundreds on the street, surrounding a guy in centre of almost the largest city in the world in a weird shirt playing on something pieced together at a hardware store - and everyone's enjoying themselves. You know what? I'm gonna sleep well tonight - because I know the world's gonna be alright. Once again - peace from Latvia.
