I love the Wurlitzer. That's a sweet little organ, with nine ranks.

My wife's grandfather, Captain Harold Dring was organist at the Regent, Sheffield back in the day and would have played these very pipes. Being an organist myself, I would love to have the opportunity to play this organ to remember him. If a visit could be arranged that would be wonderful.

Great sounding organ. I have a 9 rank player residence Wurlitzer pipe organ in my home here in Tennessee(USA). I have 90+ rollers with it.

You mentioned at the start of your video about the organ being in the possession of Harold Cantrill until some time in the 70’s. I don’t suppose you’re aware of what has happened to all of the other organs Harold had do you as well as also whether he’s still alive too? I doubt that he is as he was very old when I last saw him about thirty years ago. He was also key in installing a two manual Wurlitzer in the Silver Jubilee Club in West Hallam in Derbyshire. The instrument and console was very similar to this one. I wonder where it has ended up now as the club has long since been demolished and turned into houses. The organ was also able to be played from a three manual Compton console with jelly mould surround that used to be in a cinema in Gravesend.

The Compton from the ABC in Derby was installed in a house in Castle Donington for around 20 years before moving ultimately to Pipes In The Peaks in Dovedale.

Going to watch Reg at the tower ballroom in Blackpool back in the day got me into organ playing, at a young age i was just mesmerised by the sight and sound of the great Wurlitzer, 53yrs old now and sadly i am only at a level of playing for my own enjoyment on my little Technics EN4 but would have loved to have a go on the organ at Blackpool, Reginald Dixon was the man that got me hooked.

Yes, and it's not as rare as one might think to have a home pipe organ, some as small as an upright piano and others large enough for a large church

Love these organs. I was once privileged to meet Bill Davies who was one of the last surviving original cinema organists.

@@fergusallan7187 Thanks for your comment. We did have some difficulty with lighting on this one. We’ve bought better cameras and lighting since then.

An amazing video! Two legendary organs in one house! Fantastic to see the wurlitzer from the regent in Sheffield still survives and is still played and lovingly cared for.my family are all from Sheffield and my grand father sadly no longer with us told me he remembered well the regent wurlutzer organ.i wonder what he would make of this video ? What a revelation I never knew this organ still exists. Fantastic.what a beautifull tone too.one can well emagine what it sounded like in the regent when my grand father heard it.
