You use hide glue....never white glue.

@wmrg1057 thanks for your comment - I knew someone would have something to say about that ;-). It was a quick temporary repair in a confined space. White glue is easy to apply and has a quick setting time making it a good fit for this use. The glue was used to stick leather to leather, if the whole tremulant needs releathering it will still clean up easily as the white glue didn't come in contact with the wood.
