Hi mam In this seminar, initially you selected the velocity of 2.5 m/s and then calculated the dia which resulted about 206 mm. Then you selected the dia of 203.2 mm , then calculated the velocity which resulted about 2.57 m/s. Finally you finalized the dia of 203.2 mm with 2.57 m/s dia. Now i have doubt how you selected the previous lowest pipe size as 203.2 mm. And how to you select the final dia for calculating pressure drop? This is my doubt kindly guide me.
@PipingMantra4 жыл бұрын
it is in the range of velocity.. and standard dia of 8" pipe is 203.2. which is validated by 2.57m/s velocity

@PipingMantra4 жыл бұрын
By calculation we got D =206mm but if you see standard pipe size where OD is fix . so we can either with 10in 250NB or 8in 200NB. So here we have selected the later (previous) size that is 200NB and 203.2mm OD or 8in pipe. I hope its clear now...

Because flexibility problem is taken care by making loops in the pipe so how will you justify your statement at 8:30 min in your video
@PipingMantra4 жыл бұрын
You are right but under same situation , different dia pipe will have different resistive force so optimum pipe size for perticular pressure ( which have relationship with temperature) also higher the pipe size higher the load .so we have to go for optimum sizing by considering appropriate velocity.

Question: There are two parallel suction pipes 560mm connected to 2 pumps and then deliver side there is common header to which on delivery pipe is connected 710mm. When both pumps run simultaneously each pump draws 1500m3/hr . In 710mm flow will be 3000m3/hr. Suction side loss 5m each pump. How will you calculate delivery head for each pump for selecting the pumps. Will the delivery pipe friction head loss be distributed among two pumps? . What about delivery side elevation?
