Waiting on a welder to make a weld? It's like watching paint to dry, it will teach you patience. Just remember a welding rod will only burn at certain speed depending on the size and type of rod. You can not hurry the process up. Good video keep them coming.

Never be in a hurry to look at horseshit is what grandaddy you to say, that defiantly applies to welding! I use to be in business with a welder and he was always in a hurry. His mentality was I do it nice because I do it twice. He hated the phase It a process. I look forward to your video's each week been following you for two years now and every time I watch I always learn something new never too old to learn. God bless and stay safe brother

Lol. When you were laying out the “legs” and talking about using the beveling machine I was hollering “Austin go ahead and layout for straight hand cuts because there’s no need stuffing bevels in the ground”! 😂

I am a dude that only enjoys watching how to weld, you need to start an in person welding school! I never want to weld as a career, but you could teach so many!

i think its awesome you took the time to bevel it. most people i know just butt it up and weld it. then they scratch their heads wondering why they hve issues with strength

Love your videos. As far as "waiting on a welder" , that's just how it is. Yea, I've been impatient waiting on a welder, but its all part of the process. When I was welding, people waiting on me, always tried to hurry. As long as the welder is trying to get it done, no problem. When a welder is scratching his ass trying to milk the clock, different story.

Waited on welds to be made a couple times last year on mid Michigan 36” line operating on a HDD pull working nights. Didn’t bother me any kick back and enjoy a break, eat a sandwich or 2, nice to have a breather for once. Pipe hung up 300’ into the pull twice and with the way the row was it had to be spliced during the pull so that weld got cut and remade a few times

The welder I worked with pipelining always had me doing something while he was burning rods, watching for grass fires, holding wind board, handing him rods, adjusting the machine. He would work you to death on the firing line.

I've played laborer and welders helper, I always was trying to be the next step ahead seeing what that particular welders habits are then I'd try to out move them.

5 years ago, east of Watonga, we were putting in 8-12” poly and I always thought waiting for those “welds” to cool was worse than waiting on welders! Job is done but you can’t move the pipe or the poly “welds” get compromised. Steel would have been so much faster

I’m not a pipeliner but I weld pipe fence and I think of it this way because I switch with my buddy and we never get impatient we because we want it to be a quality weld and not have to come back and fix anything

Not sure if u did or not but would have been a good idea to pop a weep hole in the bottom of every place u put the down leg on that way when it sweats it has somewhere to go and it'll go straight back into the ground and never be seen...help slow the inner rot

How thick of wall was the 8 inch round pipe and how tall was the pipe to the top on the bumper pipe

Noticed something you were doing. I think it's to start a rod or get the welder up to speed. But you seem to intentionally hard ground the rod to the pipe at the start. I think it heats up the rod but also kicks the RPM up for the welder. Is the purpose to get the welder RPM and current up or does it help with the rod and striking the ark if the rod is already hot from grounding it out? Kind of like a hot start?

10:50 like watching grass grow... but it's hard enough finding someone that has their book balanced for buying industrial construction things, as their is a huge wall built around that... not the time, its the wall over regulations that takes "months/years" material permit processing?
