This guy can make a video about a kite and I'll watch it because it'll be informative and funny. Happy 2023, everyone!

Specifically a review of one from Prism Kites. I would no-joke love to watch a Prism Zero G Glider review. They're hard to find now though...

I am 1 year into ownership of a 1961 Comanche 250. I am blown away by the performance I get and the price I paid for it. But yes, maintenance is painful.

I own a '59 Comanche 250. I love it. I will say the annuals usually run a bit higher than is advertised here. Great video!!

After lots of research on Comanches, the main things I've read to do are to get the Australian horn for the stabilator, which will completely eliminate the AD for that. Afterward, a lot of folks suggest to replace the front gear bungees each year, making sure to check the rollers to see if they aren't over tightened which prevents the roller from working, which will wear the bungees down much faster.

My dad had a 260 Comanche when I was young, I can barely remember it. He loved it but the retractable gear was not ideal for grass strips (v common in the uk) so he went Cherokee 180 then Cherokee Six. The Six was an amazingly capable plane, he taught me to fly on it (unofficially 😉). Yet another great vid. Happy New year to you and yours. 👋🇬🇧

My dad had a Piper comanche 400 for the last 15ish years. Recently got rid of it. Always loved the comanche, 185kts cruise speed was pretty great

Excellent take on the Comanche. It really does require a particular kind of specialist to properly own and operate.

Man, I miss my old 1960 250. It was super reliable, hauled a load, 160kts cruise and almost 1000nm range. Should’ve never sold it.

The Short Wing Club and the Comanche Club have a lot of overlap. The Comanche Club is fanatical about teaching maintenance to owners and their mechanics. Get involved with the club to learn your Comanche. Honestly, finding a type club should be a high priority with any airplane this age.

I rent a 260 for 200/hr. The price is a steal. It's cheaper and quicker to fly cross country than a C172. A 260 is a true 4 person airplane and it hauls

I find it insanely ironic that Piper lost their factory and all their tooling in a hurricane - in Pennsylvania - and decided to take what's left and up stakes to...*checks notes* Florida...

It says somthing about the state of manufacturing when a major airplane company cant reproduce the tooling and fixtures to build a product. Tribal knoledge and beapoke methoods are too common.
@CompleteWalkaround Жыл бұрын
I don't believe it was that they couldn't. Comanche sales were past their peak. By 72 they had Arrow and Cherokee Six in the lineup which were much more modern designs and selling better.
@Orzorn Жыл бұрын
@@CompleteWalkaround Its a shame we couldn't get a modernized Comanche, like other planes have. Comanche 26Bs are so much airplane for the cost compared to other similarly costing models. The useful load is great, bladder busting amounts of fuel, and a relatively true 6 seat airplane to boot (depending on passenger sizes, of course).
