Ironically, I found the one from Secret Seclusion to be easier. Mainly because 95% of my struggle with this level was the fact almost every puzzle piece is hidden behind collecting a trail of items, and I had to throw away an assload of lives so I could get them all since I suck at precision with the rocket barrel.

I know this seems out of place, but I always thought it was cool if you listen closely before the giant snowballs start falling, it makes the crystal falling/breaking and falling down sound from DKC Returns which I think is a cool bonus as another throw back aside from just the bat.

This is such a great tune. Not only is the instrumentation fantastic and just has this triumphant feeing of finally returning home to DK Island, but the variation on the main melody played on brass is perfect. It’s so much more intense and really fits for the last rocket barrel level. David Wise is an incredible composer.

One of the things I love about this Rocket Barrel track specifically is the way they go about retooling the existing melody to fit the situation. Since you’re finally approaching the Snowmad’s base on DK Island, their orchestration and almost militaristic motif makes it’s way in and actively takes over and drowns out the main melody in certain points. It makes you feel like you’re that much more outmatched, a perfect theme for the final and most difficult Rocket Barrel level in the game.

TheAmazingMoist it even has a story if you beat the level without dying. 1:03 the main theme accompanied by the militaristic, almost choir-like strings, horns and harp. The Kongs can still recognize their home. 1:12 the horns and strings have taken over, with the main theme played by harp. The snowballs are falling all over the place and the place looks less recognizable. 1:21 key change, the horns and strings overpower the main theme. The Rocket Barrel is in a glacier and all you see ice, no wood whatsoever.

Love the game. Still disappointed it wasn't as hard as the DKC Returns. The keystone levels were still delightfully challenging. I hope the next one they come out with is just like DKC Returns. The bosses were way too easy to beat.

Sask RuffRiders I've never played Tropical Freeze but from all the many clips I've seen it looks harder if I'm honest, especially those bonus levels 😣😣. Returns was hard enough yes but I managed to get near to 200% completion on that, with just a couple of levels I didn't clear on mirror (hard) mode.

I have recently replayed them both and I must say that tropical freeze is more difficult than returns, expecially the hard mode of tropical freeze Is harder than the mirror mode of returns...in returns there are only 5 levels that give me problems in mirror mode,in tropical freeze almost every level gives me problems in the hard mode(sorry for my bad english I'm Italian)

Ohh, as an amateur teen musician, I can tell exactly what the music is making me feel! It highlights the anxiety with tempo and volume, intentionally replacing what I think is baritone saxophone from the original DKCR theme in the intro of the song with loud and high horn notes. The changes in melody from shorter notes to longer notes and different pitches are done, at least from perspective, to make the escape seem unfathomably dangerous, yet in a still cartoon-y sort of way. Kremlings shoulda been in a game with music this good.
