At the invitation of Professor Lawrence Baldridge, Kennedy came to Alice Lloyd College in Pippa Passes. It was the last stop on the first day of his 2-day visit to eastern Kentucky in 1968. He addressed the student body on education and regional leadership and students questioned him on the war in Viet Nam and economic development. In 2004 RFKinEKY reenacted this event. Afterwards current issues raised in the RFKinEKY tour recreation were discussed by RFK's aide Peter Edelman, Dee Davis of the center for Rural Strategies and the audience.
RFK in EKY, The Robert F. Kennedy Performance Project, (2004) is a series of public conversations and art activities centered around the real-time, site-specific, intermedia performance recreating Robert Kennedy's 1968 two-day, 200 mile "poverty tour" of south-eastern Kentucky.
