I really liked the evolution of Pippa's Devil Hat (The hat, the ear hats, the ahoge hat, the umbrella). Also this was perfect for her, with her relatively encyclopedic knowledge of her field. tbf, it's not hypocritical to make a devil's advocate argument because the point of DA isn't to represent your own views. That's literally your job, to do the research and make the counter-argument for the sake of the other side having a fair shot in debate. The term comes from a now-defunct concept in the Catholic church where they would have someone come in to argue why someone SHOULDN'T be granted sainthood, in a way "speaking for the devil" At the same time, she's actually a terrible DA because she can't keep her points straight.

Kyo hit the nail on the head on how 'Vtuber culture' should be. I remember in the early years when vtuber companies trying to market japanese-style idol culture to english-speaking audiences led to some very toxic standards developing in the community, which thankfully were curtailed over time by indies and newer companies challenging those notions and bringing new ideas to the table.

yeah western idols aren't anything like japanese idols aside from just the singer/musician part. there's a massive gap between akb/etc and, say, katy perry or ariana grande. closest jp singer i can think of right off to western idols is kyary, and she's never really been part of jp idol culture outside collabs and such. on the western side, taylor swift and rebecca black started out in a system pretty close to that of jp idols, but rebecca black became a near nobody and taylor swift later tossed her initial record label to the side and went indie to almost unimaginable success (like, so much success that economists have to factor her into their economic planning now - look it up).
