Saw your comment about radioactive stickers, did you get round to uploading it?

Sorry unfortunately I haven't really made much progress on that video since that comment 10 months ago, although I have heard back from the lab and the determination was the stickers are "10 times the regulatory limit for requiring licensure" which is 0.05% w/w radioactive material (stickers are about 0.5% w/w). Part of the reason is it's video #18 and I want to release some other videos before I start anything more on it. #14 comes before it and sets up and lot of the context for Amazon's position in eCommerce, distribution and sale of unsafe products and makes comparisons to traditional stores and argues what liability Amazon has and if Amazon has an unfair competitive advantage over other platforms and businesses and if this is driving the push for 'marketplace' style eCommerce platforms, the video is specifically about unsafe USB chargers and ends introducing the radioactive stickers video. It's currently 1hr 5min long and a comical 462 GB, I still have to add several more scenes and do a lot of editing to get it down to 30 or 45 minutes and a lot of other stuff, it's a while until I finish it. #16 is unrelated but includes some context that shows I know what I'm talking about when it comes to radiation measurement and safety, this video is by far the most expensive video I've worked on so far and has had it's scope expanded 3 times, I originally planned to release this video in 2021 before I decided to add the 3 extra sections and am very glad I didn't rush it because 2 turned out great, but the final section is costing a lot of money and will take quite awhile to finish so will probably be published after the stickers video unless I cut the final section. Also, I should note this isn't a 'proper' KZbin channel, this is just a hobby for me I do most weeks for at most 1 day a week instead of paid work or other hobbies, I know the videos are way to ambitious to be done in a reasonable time frame but it's a hobby and I enjoy making them, which is partly why I've been working on other videos like this PIR failure analysis video which will be getting a follow up video as #21 soon (probably the next video I publish) and today I'm working on #20 which is about some medical equipment but I was meant to publish it well before March 31st but there's no chance of that now. Either way those are fun videos to make, going up against a trillion dollar eCommerce platform by trying to persuade government departments to take action with their limited staff and funding as a single person isn't as fun. But with that said I haven't canceled the video, I still intend to release it eventually.

Get some mitutoyo objectives, those give some amazing ultra macro shots!

I did look at some very nice used Mitutoyo objectives but decided against it as both they were expensive but also they were all infinity corrected which would probably be more useful in future but would have required a separate expensive tube lens and more adapters. I ended up going with that cheap generic Chinese objective and instead spending my money on a telecentric lens from SPO which I didn't show but a photo taken with it is at 17:07. I also redid the thumbnail of PMS7003 video, it's now a stitched mosaic of several telecentric photos. Since this video I've ended up using the telecentric lens a lot more than the microscope objective so I'm not too sad about the microscope quality, although I do have a new tube for it which gets rid of that bloom in the center.

@@WizardTim Yeah that's true, seems like a great decision. I read a review of that 4x .10NA objective and when purchasing it I ended up buying many more objectives of the same style, I couldn't believe the price for $500 I got 6 plan objectives brand new so I wasn't expecting much for the other objectives but I took the risk anyway and well they were better than I expected however I feel like I "outgrew" them, first issue to me was the short working distance specially the 20x one and later the lack of epi-illumination, also recently I got the bug of photolithography and I think some mitutoyo objectives would be superb for all this. So now Im saving up to get one, hopefully two of them the 5x .14NA and the 10x .28NA The other models are way too expensive but will have an eye on the used market, with some luck I get a high NA objective for an affordable price.

What do I replace the XL632 with Wizard Tim
@WizardTim
@WizardTim 5 ай бұрын
Bunnings has the "HPM VIVO PIR Sensor" (MPN: EV803PIRWE) which is a 'wall plate' style PIR sensor, however it doesn't have any manual/auto or on/off switches on it like the XL632. If you need the switches you might be able to get a 3 gang switch plate and use a Diginet LEDsmart+ PIR sensor (MPN: MMSE/PR) and transplant the old labeled switches. But I got mine replaced with just a standard PIR sensor and single light switch as it was less than half the price of any of the wall plate style sensors.
