Serious reply: Honestly, I do want an Undertale character, just because I do really enjoy the game and think having it be represented in Smash would be incredible. Pair that with indie representation, and, more importantly, Undertale music in Smash, and you’d have me sold. I know that Sans is probably the most iconic character, be it just for memes one way or another. That said, a lot of people overlook Papyrus’s and Undyne’s chances. They’ve both got moveset potential, are almost as iconic, and both their personalities are perfect for a game like Smash: They love meeting new people, showing off their skills, and hitting things. I think one of them might have a genuine shot at making it in. Plus, it’d probably be pretty hard to make a moveset for Sans, considering the gimmicks that make him powerful in his source game would be impossible to translate to Smash without being broken. Dumb shitposty reply: Imagine that whole video being nothing but Cat and the Piranha Plant dancing to Megalovania while a video of the Sans fight plays on a monitor in the background

Piranha Plant was actually one of my favorite newcomer in Ultimate. I had actually been wishing that they'd make an enemy or otherwise generic character into a fighter since Smash 4. I even wrote up a whole moveset for Goomba at one point. Piranha Plant is also the first completely non-humanoid or animal-based fighter, which is also something I'd been hoping for

You forgot to mention that the plant base (potted or piped) also represents the basis for how the plant was found. The potted costumes are usually found grounded, while piped costumes are referencing species that usually appear in pipes.

For everybody who doesn't know yet. The reason Alax hasn't uploaded is because he is taking a break. He announced this on Twitter. The reason for this is because his ex has acused him of being abusive. She also made the alligation on Twitter. It is currently unclear wether or not the alligations are true as his ex has not provided any real evidence or any evidence at all of Alax being abusive. It should also be said that it is rather suspicious that the alliagation was made publicaly and that this wasn't handled in court which could suggest this is a publicity stunt on the ex's part but there is no proof of that yet. I suggest to look into both sides for information before deciding if Alax is guilty or if his ex is faking it.

The light blue piranha plants are also a possible reference to the frost piranhas from Paper Mario TTYD... though those in turn could be based on the piranha plant you mentioned And the purple one is based on the Spiny Piranha plant most likely... Aka the original variation of the plant you mentioned in his side special (in SMG they existed as super large Piranha plants with spines on them except for the head. So they were killed only by Ground pounds. Then in SMG2 the spikey ones were made that you need to kill with shells only

I know everyone was super mad about it, but honestly I just LOVE that Sakurai added Piranha Plant to Smash. He's the ultimate joke character... its like Sakurai was just bored one day and was thinking about Piranha Plant from the Mario games and had a sudden burst of inspiration for a genius Smash Bros. moveset. I'm 98% certain the ONLY reason Piranha Plant was added was because Sakurai wanted it, I can't imagine any of the marketing team proposing the idea, especially given its complete surprise reveal.

philosophical question, is the plant a bad guy? does he deliberately attack mario or is he just defending his territory/home? if it's simply a naturally occurring plant it could just be reacting to an outsider in it's environment? is it sentient? does that have any bearing on it being good or evil? has there ever been a species of piranha plant specifically out to get Mario? Petey Piranha comes to mind, but again if it's just a plant it could still just be reacting to an outsider...
