This was my second mega-lite I had the opportunity to experience, and the ride experience felt drastically different! In this review, I'll talk about what this ride did well, and compare and contrast this ride to Kawasemi in Japan!

Let me tell you a little story about this coaster: you can try it with mack's trains ! The French park Nigloland wanted to add a new coaster so they asked Intamin to have a clone of Piraten but with the new generation of trains. Intamin said no so the park asked Mack rides if they could copy the layout. Mack did it and now the park have alpina blitz

Well kinda. The mack layout is a bit different but largely resembles that of the Megalite. Mack also made a similar ride for Etnaland in Italy called the Storm which also feature a Megalite-esque layout but with a heartline roll at the end for extra spice.

These are like an older Intamin version of a chance hyper GTX. It still has that compact layout full of airtime hills and unique airtime elements and is very good if a park wants a bit of cheaper way that still packs everything.

I'm very happy Piraten is getting the recognition on social media it deserves. Just as its name Mega-Lite states, it puts a lot of force into its layout, and I wish it was replicated more in the US. The compact curves and hills paired with the shorter train make for a more intimate rider experience, as opposed to everyone's screams being buried in the roar of the track. Maybe one day it'll make it to a park like Dorney or Knoebels.

Mini i305 is exactly what we all said when we first got off Piraten. Like as if intamin used this as a trial run for i305. Biggest difference though was not the sheer size of i305, but the restraints. Love the tbar setup on Piraten.

The definition of a great compact coaster! I genuinely believe this could be one of the best noninverting small coasterlayouts out there. Btw. the drop is only 70°.

For me, I prefer Piraten over Fønix. Fønix is amazing, but it just lacks that extra bit of "oomph" that Piraten has. I just don't think anything can compare to when Intamin make a world class coaster!

I very much agree about the middle sections with the three S-hills being the best part of the ride. Its crazy. I thought that the twisted camelback after the drop was a little bit weak, but the rest i definetely agree on, its a great ride! Fantastic review!

i'm a big fan of these small but powerful coasters intamin built in the '00s. desert race is my favourite coaster at my home park heide park in germany, that ride is sadly very short but manages to give you four great ejector hills, the first three of which being these amazing s-hills also found on the mega-lites, as well as some very forceful turns and a great launch. piraten looks just like a longer desert race minus the launch, so i'd think i'd absolutely love this ride.

As a Dane. I went to djurs sommerland a couple days ago, and I loved the ride. I defiantly set my expectations too high probably because I’m used to California and Florida coasters, but I still liked it and tried to marathon if for the last 30 mins the park was open

I went to the park on a dead day. Road it 22 times. Had bruises the rest of the trip. Don't regret a thing. This park reminds me of Tripsdrill for some reason and I don't know why.

I watched twice to make sure I didn't miss something. I have to ask, why the score? Based on your review, it sounds like a near perfect coaster. What took 1.5 points off for you? Variety of elements couldn't be worth that much of a deduction when other non-inverts have received 10s.

I loved this coaster, but found the trains a little bit uncomfortable. It's more than 6 months ago now since I rode, so I might misremember, but I think it was mainly being thrown to the side that was a little bit painful, because of how my body was pushed into the side of the train. I'm a bigger guy, so that probably affects your experience.
