Pirates of the Caribbean is one of Disney's most successful franchises, so much so that even those who have not watched the films are aware of its lead character, the swashbuckling Captain Jack Sparrow. Sparrow was mostly created by the actor who plays him, Johnny Depp.
While Pirates of the Caribbean 6 news doesn't give any real developments on the long-awaited sequel, the return of Johnny Depp to the franchise now seems more of a possibility.
Following various scandals and legal battles that thrust the actor into the spotlight in an unflattering way, the Pirates franchise seemed ready to leave Depp and Jack Sparrow behind. However, Walt Disney executives left the door open for Depp's possible Pirates return.
The only plot detail anyone has to go off of is the ending of the previous film. Dead Men Tell No Tales featured a post-credits scene with Davy Jones. Although Will believes that Jones appears to him in a nightmare, viewers are made privy to the knowledge that Jones was actually in the room.
The biggest question on every fans mind regarding the next Pirates movie isn’t necessarily what the story will be - it’s whether or not Johnny Depp will come back. And the answer is that nobody knows at the moment. Loyal fans have been begging for Depp to return to the big-screen and give Jack Sparrow another go.
Orlando Bloom expressed interest in returning for Pirates of the Caribbean 6. The following month in March, Keira Knightly said she would not return to the franchise as she was happy with Elizabeth Swan's ending.
For a short time, it appeared Disney had shifted the focus off Pirates of the Caribbean 6 and onto spin-off films. It was announced that Margot Robbie was set to star in a Pirates of the Caribbean spin-off film. The idea seemed to be to try to keep the franchise going but move it away from Johnny Depp's Jack Sparrow. Robbie indicated the movie was no longer moving forward. Producer Jerry Bruckheimer, on the other hand, said that the movie was still in development. Margot Robbie has since become busy with Barbie and it's success.
If Johnny Depp, and therefore Captain Jack Sparrow, won't be back for the sixth installment of the franchise, is it even worth it? Aside from the sea, the legendary Captain is the only consistent feature in all films. It makes sense that for many fans, a Pirates of the Caribbean film cannot exist without Depp.

That’s a clip of Johnny Depp from one of the other Pirates film. They put that in there to tease you into coming to pirate six. They’ve lost money on all of the other movies they put out this year so they had to think of a way to try to get money, and what better way than to use his face, but he said he would not go back to Disney.
