They changed everything in Jack Sparrow, except his "funny" madness. He's just drunk and stupid. We all remember how he was different in the 1, 2 and 3 movies. A kind of legend, funny in his intelligent way, a real captain, Jack Sparrow. I can't see all of this in the last movie, and that's so sad.

@Arun Joseph no it wasn't. It is actually the worst in the franchise. The first 3 are an amazing masterpiece. The 4th was good, and made me excited for the 5th. But when I saw it, the music kinda disappointed me, the villain didn't scare me, and Jack was not Jack. BUT if a 6th film is made, I can only hope that it will be better than DMTNT.

@@doctornagalli3321 No it isn't, the 4th movie is the worst one, absoloutely unbearable to watch, the 5th one is an absoloute mess and disgrace to the overrall universe and story, a hot piece of hollywood garbage, but still, kinda fun to watch, I wanted to vomit after I finished it, but at least I was able to sit throughout the entire movie, in Stranger Tides I skipped forwards a lot of times. Such a pain man, its down there with Halloween 5 for sure.

The flashback scene when jack is given the compass and the main theme plays and he looks to his crews quite surprised , the other time when he leads salazar to his doom and looks at him spinning his compass is the greatest moments in the film maybe in the whole franchise.

They should not have gotten rid of Depp, and they should not have terminated Salazar's character. Turning Salazar into a character like Davy Jones would have set the stage for a good sequel. They screwed up the story with Pirates 4, replacing the Will-Elizabeth love story with a totally lame mermaid-priest boy spinoff that they rightfully abandoned, cause it was as lame as Blackbeard had been. Developing the Carita-Henry story in Pirates 4 would have at least made it slightly more interesting. Both their father's were powerful men in command of powerful vessels, that is until they shoved the Pearl in a bottle, another blunder of Pirates 4. Pirates 5 was underwhelming with the destruction of Jack Sparrow's character and the sci-fi battleship that Salazar had. Good luck restoring the franchise without Depp. You might be able to do without Barbosa, but not Jack Sparrow. He is the symbol of the franchise; without Depp, no PotC.

Fun and honestly Depressing fact;the Fat Pirate (Bollard)was intended to be Pintel,the Skinny Pirate (Cremble) was intended to be Ragetti,and the African Pirate (Pike) was intended to be Mr.Cotton.but the actors did not want to come back,and honestly seeing all the Pirates (Mr.Gibbs,Scrum, Mr.Cotton,Marty, Pintel,& Ragetti;plus Mullroy & Murtogg) reunited and (spoiler alert) sail on the Black Pearl once more under Captain Jack Sparrow one last time I could've died happy

Don't get me wrong, I love Johnny, he's my fricking hero, but he should watch these performances back and review them for notes now and again because that last entry wasn't Jack Sparrow at all. (Maybe it was the editing by I digress) Jack Sparrow is cool, quick, calculating, sharp, & unintentionally funny and bumbling (when he's drunk) not just the latter. In all the previous films he was the one propelling the story, in DMTNT he was literally being pulled along by the story and it just felt... empty, like he didn't care. 😔 (I blame Amber Heard and all her now proven psycho bullshit) But seriously... he can still pull off one last great performance. He's joined instagram for Christ's sake... JFJ . ✊ ☠️

I agree. Watching the first 3 films, even the fourth one he's someone you'd be scared to meet, he's sneaky and cunning and creepy at times and will backstab anyone to get what he wants. The first 3 was so well written! Not only that they changed his look too. Hate watching the 5th and it's just all jokes, the writers ruined him

@@anonima2184 I felt the same thing when I watched the 5th one in theaters. I didn't even remember what happened after a month. I watched it again on DVD, I shockingly like the plot better than the 4th one, but I can understand Johnny's Performance. During this filming, he was having horrible abuse from Amber Heard when she came to join him when filming this in Australia. A huge incident occurred when she threw a wine or vodka bottle at him, causing his finger to be sliced, and lost the half first digit of his right ring finger. He hides it well during filming as I have tried to see his right hand multiple times, but as said again, he hides it very well. I think he really struggled during this film, it's a sad spot not only for Johnny, but for our Jack as well. The character was torn from us to this broken pirate and emotionally broken actor. If and Disney BETTER, bring him back, I think we can hope to see Jack in a better light in the 6th film as he is away from Amber and now has all of our support for him.

I... Think* they tried to go for the "our hero has fallen but with a return to adventure, he shall rise again" sort of redemption arc. But while 1-3 was great, 4 was carried by Jack, in 5, Jack was carried along because he never really had that return to greatness. Despite having a good villain and a more interesting couple than 4.

Captain Jack is my favorite character ever and JD is my favorite actor so don't get me wrong but , i heard that somewhere and i realized that i 100% agree with it , which is that in pirates of the Caribbean : dead men tell no tale , the Captain Jack didn't seem to be the same as always , Johnny was not being jack he was acting to take the role of Jack that we are used to , it makes me sad actually , you can notice the difference between Jack in pirates 5 and jack in pirates 1, 2 , 3 and even 4 .. You can even notice how he is more likely to Jack in the behind the scenes than the actual movie itself .. Just said what i thought , and i love Johnny and Jack forever i just needed to say what i thought was right .. Thanks .

I personally loved the beginning of the movie, I mean they stole a whole bank for crying out loud. After that I think the movie went down hill, it got to vague, I mean a sparkling glitter island? really? and I just missed the original Captain Jack Sparrow, he was very off in this movie. If they would’ve stuck to the original cast and added the few extras a new evil role and left jack sparrow as the focus and main character and let him shine this would’ve been a huge hit, what they did wrong was bringing in a new mermaid love story and this love story that are all weakly orchestrated and takes away from the characters we WANT to see. Will and Elizabeth we were so invested in but these random romances they try and put on the forefront just took away from everything else these movies were about prior.

I know this comment was from 7 months ago, however well POTC 4 was in 2011 and POTC 5 came out in 2017. That's a big time gap. People age. Also, Johnny was going through some difficult times when this was filmed, with the nasty Amber Heard drama and Johnny's mother died.
