What I love about Barbossa's response is he's teasing her basically saying: "You just used a lot of big words that I understood perfectly but want to annoy you, I am just articulate as you, you're not the only one who can use long words." Also you can tell Barbossa is one of the few if any pirates who can speak in a posh way.

3 years later but hey. I agree, and i find it very well written considering that captains of the time actually did need to be educated. Barbossa most certainly was. They had to be able to understand Trigonometry (think of calculating distances/speeds on a map to establish how long a voyage might take etc), Astronomy to find your latitude and longitude, and certainly to read to do all the above plus Inventory lists etc.

eDuB1980s that's what threw everyone so off guard and made this movie so memorable. they turned a very old and tired movie theme and made it fresh and new again with fantastic cinematography and script writing.
