Loved this book. The narrator is amazing. I think the cadence of a scholar are captured well. Bit of acting thrown in for the Venus characters. His words were so clear, I could listen at 1.5 speed. Burroughs has imagined a pretty, violet world in this, and the imagination really captivates. Some old stuff here, especially with the melodrama of the romance, but he had to leave it with that strong cliffhanger. I like the rich worldbuilding when it comes to attitudes: the scholars can’t accept that he is from space because they’ve examined the sky thoroughly, but the winged aliens seem to accept it.

Thank you for all you do. We are big fans of your Baum, Thompson and Snow Oz books. My nine-year-old daughter insists on having an audiobook on every night as she goes to bed. She falls asleep listening to your audiobooks every night.

lol the plot takes a hard left turn when MC decides on a whim to become a pirate captain. With a princess on board no less. His selfishness is hilarious and his lack of self awareness of his hypocritical bigotry is eyeroll inducing. Even so, it was an entertaining pulp adventure and we'll narrated.

Wow. You write very well. In fact, your command of words says you should be writing novels yourelf. Just a thought from a guy who reads lots of them and can tell when stuff flows.

I agree, the selfishness is a good part of the MC. I think he is heroic in helping everyone. The "they sing like the Negroes, and are all dumb" comment is bigoted by our standards. Still, I am surprised he makes friends with the winged dark aliens.
