Many players who moved to AC Milan mentioned that at the beginning they were asking for the ball during a game. After a couple of matches, Pirlo went to them and said: -Look, don't ask for the ball, because if you do it, also the opponent notices that you are free. If you are free, I see it before everyone else, no need to ask. Fucking Maestro.
@primocalcio21414 ай бұрын
He also told Lichsteiner at Juventus, "When I show for the ball, even if there is a man on me, pass me the ball."
@tanzongyuan87025 ай бұрын
the thing most special about pirlo is that he can make those perfect through balls even when he is not facing or looking at the runners. If u look at scholes xavi iniesta alonso kroos etc, they all can generally only make these passes when they have time and space. Pirlo somehow doesnt need it. Look at the passes at 1:00, 1:09 and 4:14 for example
@Twoyutes744 ай бұрын
That's one of a few reasons I place Pirlo above Xavi as the best CM we've seen in the past 20 years. Pirlo > Xavi > Iniesta(CAM tho tbh). Then Modric and Debruyne can fight over 4th and 5th place. P.s. Zizou, etc retired early 2000s. I didn't forget them.

Gonna have to challenge you on Xabi Alonso. The reason why Pirlo and Alonso are my favorites is because they only take a second to make those types of passes. Xabi is my favorite DM of all time because of his ability to play the role of a deep-lying playmaker, while also being both the fulcrum of the midfield and screening the defense due to his expert reading of the game. That being said, Pirlo is probably the best deep-lying playmaker to have ever played the game. However, his defensive abilities are not as great as Alonso's.

Pirlo in his early years played as offensive midfielder without great results, because he wasn’t very fast and strong. After this period, manager as Mazzone and Ancelotti reinvented him as central midfielder, with incredible results. He was The Metronome of Amcelotti’s AC Milan and Juventus in The last years. Great Class, maybe less physical strong and running, infact he needed allways a defensive or runner midfielder near him, as Gattuso or Marchisio and Vidal. Surely Pirlo was one of The greatest central midfielder and midfield director ever, even though in this file role I prefer a different kind of player, more rough and difensive. Matthaus, Scholes and now I love Kroos

Starting at around 2013 the majority of matches have become much less enjoyable for me. Apart from almost a handful of coaches Even in attacking midfield size and strength has become way more important than technique and creativity . Meanwhile Modric Isco, Pedri Musiala, and Bernardo Silva are the only players in the big leagues who have the playing style of someone like Iniesta Silva Cazorla etc. I'll admit that I don't follow the Serie A and the Bundesliga but to me only De Zerbi, Postecoglu, Arteta, Klopp, Guardiola, Michel, Rose, Tuchel Xabi Alonso and Alguacil consistently try to play attractive football.

Players with a style like Pirlo Xavi and Scholes are almost gone at the eliite level; only Modric is still surviving so to speak. These types along with the classic number 10s are dissapearing and with the exception of Mitoma and Pedri no central midfielder who compensates his athletic deficencies with superior technique and footballing intelligence has been given significant minutes at an elite since 2014. (Foden', Gavi and Wirtz are great but slightly less elegant in my opinion while Odegaard and Musiala are much stronger Since then physicallity has been prioritised over skill at a huge rate which leaves scaringly little place for players to improvise Apart from Manuel Pellegrini, Michel,, Guardiola, Klopp, Arteta, De Zerbi Xabi Alonso Tuchel, Terzic, Rose Aguacil, and Postecoglu no coach in Serie A, PL, Bundesliga or La Liga have a strong attacking idea reflected on the pitch in my opinion.
@JavadGoudarzi4 ай бұрын
good points. I agree mostly, but thiago alacantara, Marco veratti, isco, santi cazorla, ozil were all examples tho that fit the player profile you are mentioned. I would not put Gavi in the category at all, he lacks refinement in his technical ability, he is not like pedri. his play is far rudimentary compared to pedri and he is more of a physical player.

I can't writer well english anyway i'll try to explain my opinion. I think creativity Is a freedom matter. Today in football TV journalist give too much importance on attacking phase thinking that attacking means get more spectacolar a match but sport and show are two things completely difference. In a movie cinematographic director decide how to stimulate interest because he could decide how movies goes in. Sport Is like real life in witch there is time to defende and time to attack.
