You know in England in training, “Come on, hey! Give me the ball, give me that, give me”, so I come to practice and I’m saying “Hey! Pass me the ball!” Pirlo after one week takes me to the side and gets one player who speaks English to translate. He said, “Tell him to not shout.” Oh, I was like, what’s he trying to tell me? Because he said, “If you shouts, even the opponent knows he’s free.” He said, “if he’s free, tell him, I will see him.” ~Kevin Prince Boateng on Andrea Pirlo

You mean Cafu. Lichsteiner was a RB, like Cafu, and Marcelo didn't like to overlap or do much withouth the ball really.

As wonderful of a player he was, he was clearly not the best player on the team. Kaka and Shevchenko were more impactful on winning and he had a lot of world class support in that midfield. Whenever he went to a big team and was put in high impact positions, he struggled and had to be loaned, even at Brescia an old injured Baggio was much better than him to the point that he had to change position.

He is not strong , he is not fast , he is not big , he is not tall , he is not good at dribbling , but , how can he be so good. .?? Because he is Andrea Pirlo , The Maestro of football

He was good at dribbling though even though he was slow. Tackling would be more appropriate here instead.

No. Pirlo was a better long range passer than either, especially with either foot, even though Kroos was also practically two-footed. On the ground they were all comparable, and Kroos was in terms of set-piece delivery, too, but Pirlo's vision was something else, as good as theirs was. Pirlo even served as an inspiration to Modric at Real in his first season under Ancelotti in 2013-14 in terms of the role he wanted him to play for his team. All three were amazing passers though and among the very best creative central midfielders ever, along with Xavi and Iniesta.
