Thrawn's biggest problem was that he served the Empire. Many officers (cough cough Admiral Konstantin cough cough) were petty and egotistical, making them prone to dumb mistakes which has gotten themselves killed and allowed the Rebels to escape. Yeah blood of bannockburn is awful, the pipes really do not fit with metal, they just mute the guitars leaving a bad mix which just doesn't sit right, furthermore the melody is not catchy but annoying, like even at parts without the pipes, the lyrics are extremely simplistic. The only single good part is the solo and the bit after it before the pipes come in and ruin it. Like genuinely if I was a new person never having heard of Sabaton before and this was my first song, I would think that Sabaton is just some mediocre Power metal band, and then I would just go and listen to some old Helloween.

It just occurred to me that Sun Tzu and people like him likely saved more lives than any other general or hero in history. His theories became so widespread that he alone affected the very fact that many soldiers even survived war. Without him, war would be even messier than it already is. I wonder if even things like the Brown and Stigler incident would've occurred without Sun Tzu's ideas of supreme excellence permeating and mutating into the ranks of so many military mindsets throughout the centuries .

That's the Art of war! Breaking the will to fight among the enemy Force them to hunt me They will play my game And play by my rules I will be close but still untouchable No more will I see suffering and pain They will find me no more I'll be gone I will have them surrounded They will yield without fight overrun Coup de grâce I will win but never fight That's the Art of War! That's the Art of War! Broken and lost Tired of war They'll surrender to me Caught in my trap There's no way out Fail never again (never again) [Chorus] I will run - they will hunt me in vain I will hide - they'll be searching I'll regroup - feign retreat they'll pursue Coup de grâce I will win but never fight That's the Art of War!

Supacharjed mmmm, nothing quite like warping in a battlegroup of Naga's and Phoenix-dreadnoughts, swarming the other group with frigates and drones, and just generally staying out of range and sniping them with capital-class railguns. It gets the adrenaline flowing like nothing else.
@mivapusa8 жыл бұрын
Supacharjed the sniping, my friend, is carried out by the glorious Naga - or Rokh, if you have the Isk for that. I don't actually know how far out a Phoenix can fling its payload, as I never tried flying one (I stayed with BC's as my biggest class of ships after losing a Rokh to a pair of Stabbers) though my corpmate once told me he could solo pretty much any site around our HQ, which is in -0.4 space
@mivapusa8 жыл бұрын
Supacharjed Evidently you can, if the pilot is new to flying Battleships(meaning me) and if you get the brilliant idea to fight Angels, who have the DELICIOUS trait of scramming you... I think the Phoenix has actually been buffed quite a bit. Tank-wise, it's one of the best.
@mivapusa8 жыл бұрын
Supacharjed I love missiles, but mainly for PVE, for which I have a Drake and a Caracal, depending on the sites and belts. I use rails for PVP, because of the instant-damage. Originally I really just chose Caldari because I agreed with their values - still do.

You know what would be a good subject for Sabaton to do a song on? Ashoka the Great, specifically his war against the Kingdom of Kalinga. For context, Ashoka had murdered and schemed his way to the throne of the Maurya Empire, which was the largest superpower on the Indian Subcontinent in the third century BCE. The only resistance in northern India was the Kingdom of Kalinga, which Ashoka brutally crushed in a massive campaign. Afterwards, instead of celebrating his new conquests, Ashoka felt a profound sense of remorse for all the suffering he and his army had caused. It was this remorse caused Ashoka to later convert to Buddhism, and fashion the Maurya Empire into one of the most ethical nations in the ancient world. I’m picturing a sadder song, sort of like A Lifetime of War or The Final Solution.

Those numbers are rather grossly exaggerated. Modern research done on the battle of Marathon has deduced that the Persians couldn't have fielded more than 20,000-25,000 men on that field, not including the navy. Although the Greeks did number 10,000 strong, and the Athenian commander did make excellent use of the terrain and his knowledge of the relative strengths and weaknesses of the various forces to bring about victory for Athens.

Vermoin I hate to see people speak of communism in a bad manner by people who know nothing about it. Stalin and Lenin were no communists they were dictators they just abused a nice ideology ti get to power and as history shows abuse that power as hard as possible after You should at the very least read what is written by Marx before jumping to conclusions as his work was not bad in theory remember that there is always a different side to a story. Communism was never established on this planet nether was socialism actually as those were always dictatorships and socialist rule is the supposed Dictatorship of the proletariat with the exclusion of Paris commune in the 19th century.

It's like saying electricity is just common sense, the usual stuff, what so special about it? Just the fact that someone came around to make such incredible things into "common sense" that's Sun Tzu's Art of War.
@verniy40876 жыл бұрын
You're literally talking about behaving in a certain way to avoid conflict (a.k.a being neutral and not doing shit to avoid being at war), the combat in the medieval times were literally a headstrong direct attack to fight at their strongest, most of the strategy made were based off an direct attack, Sun Tzu however created a strategy about an indirect attack meant to demoralize the enemy and make them either surrender or retreat, heck, even Carolus Rex's strategies were in a direct approach, of course, many people also had the idea to try and demoralize the enemy but none of them created a solid one (the closest demoralizing tactic people had on Sun Tzu's timeline was flanking) Sun Tzu's strategies are also applicable to the modern world, most of the armed forces of the modern world are trained to either make the enemy retreat or surrender.(kinda like the Blitzkrieg which were focused on cutting off the enemy from the main army and attacking them resulting in a higher chance for them to either surrender or try to retreat)

Am i the only one that thinks of Vlad the Impaler? Moral warfare Scorched earth Every attack was in a point where his tiny army had the advantage before striking and retreating After reaching his capital, seeing it surrounded with over 20k ded turks the ottomans left without a fight, only to assasinate him years later, without defeating him in combat. Overall his army of (at most) 25k troops has taken down over 70k ottomans, and lost 10k men during his campaign. That is.... something.
@ismael99146 жыл бұрын
Vlad the Impaler used this tactics to maintain controll of his land, long history short, before he was "leader" there were insurrections and corruption on his nation everywere, he controlled his land with fear, becoming a "leyend" against the persas being afraid of having to deal with him and their troops were terrified knowing what happened if they got captured.
