That last antique banjo sounded way better with the new bridge. The others were different, interesting.

i'm making a bass banjo using an irish bodhran as the body. cello tailpiece. electric bass neck. i'm thinking about the bridge so i watched your pete seeger style bridge video. what i want out of the instrument is acoustic-level volume. a bass that truly needs no amplification at, say, a campfire jam. others are concerned that the bodhran skin won't be able to handle the tension, so i started looking around at ways to construct a bridge that can spread that tension either closer to the perimeter of the head or just further out in all directions. any thoughts you have are welcome.

I watched this AFTER ordering one, to my ear both banjo's sounder a bit better with the original bridges? That being said, I replaced the stock bridge on my new all cherry Enoch Tradesman with the eclipse and am pleasantly surprised. It sounds fine to me and the banjo defiantly needs a compensated bridge. A caveat, I actually like a bit of overtone and resonance when playing.
