Pisgah Mountain Bike Stage Race 2023 | Stage 2: Promise Land Route

Stage 2 took us into some proper pisgah sings track. We started the day with a police escort out of town to turkey pen. Then a climb up Mullinax to Squirrel Gap. Cypress was leading for most of the day until just before the final climb. I took over and pushed a bit leading into it to create some fatigue. Then I bobbled and he passed me. Then he bobbled and I passed him. It was a good final battle!
I came over the top with a bit of a gap that I was able to hold to the finish line. Cypress managed to take 19 seconds out of me on the final part of the descent, which was also the enduro segment.
A little more time added to GC but not enough to rest easy. Anything can happen in the Pisgah.
