Have you made it out to Pisgah yet? What was your first trail ride there? Would you suggest lower black mountain for a rider looking to break into Pisgah level trails? Let me know in the comments below!

Lower black WAS my first trail ever in Pisgah! What an amazing first trail it was as well!

My first ride in Pisgah started with Upper Laurel + Pilot Rock and ended with the full Black Mountain, so I knew what I was up against in the first 10 minutes

My first “Pisgah” ride was Bent Creek - up to GreensLick and down Inglefield and Wolf.... I’d say that’s slightly easier as An intro to Pisgah but you can’t go wrong with Lower black either

Just returned to Dallas from a family reunion in Pisgah Forest. Rode exactly the trail you described. Rented a bike from The Hub for a cousin who wanted to try mountain biking. The climb up Thrift Cove was tough but the Lower Black was incredible. Cousin had a bad spill but not much damage and he is now hooked. One thing you cannot capture on video is the steepness of the trail. To anyone who is thinking about it, it is a challenging steep, black trail that is very doable. Thanks for the excellent video!!

My first time at Pisgah I did full black mountain down from the top of club gap. Your recommendation of just doing lower is definitely better for a first timer.
@MtbFrequentFlyer3 жыл бұрын
I shuttled it with some friends but still had to do the horrendous hike a bike sections on the upper section and yeah it was rough lol

Thanks for this! I've not been to Pisgah and mostly because so many people are acting like it's leaps and bounds harder than everything else. This trail looks super fun and definitely with some challenge but not crazy.
@SouthernSender3 жыл бұрын
It's really not that much more intense than normal trails. There are some big moves on a few trails that give them there higher trail rating but most of the trails are nice and flowy
@MtbFrequentFlyer3 жыл бұрын
Glad I was able to tempt ya to get out there and ride! This one has tons of flow so if that’s your jam you will love it!

@mrsmith3263 жыл бұрын
It may depend on where you’re coming from also. It’s definitely steeper than most of my local stuff but it’s not ridiculously steep or technical. It’s fun but will up your game a bit if you’re used to more XC style trails
@snat62993 жыл бұрын
Definitely a lot more climbs and rough terrain if you choose other trails besides lower black.

This is an amazing trail Don't let the GoPro affect fool you it's not gnarly but it can be super fast, like mock chicken fast if you're ready to let the brakes go

So If i wanted to do that trail, what do I need to put in my gps to get to that parking lot? As large as pisgah is I dont wanna end up in the wrong spot.
@MtbFrequentFlyer3 жыл бұрын
I always look for davidson river campground and the parking lot is just right across the street from the campground entrance. It is very close to the Hub in brevard so you can always park their and ride out!
@D5_CoinsWithCharacter3 жыл бұрын
So what's your opinion of tackling this on a hardtail? Say a Trek X-caliber 9?
@frankapple41303 жыл бұрын
Hard tail would be ok but xcalibur is not made for that type of riding. You can do it of course...
@MtbFrequentFlyer3 жыл бұрын
I would say it would be challenging but not undoable some other pisgah trails I’d definitely say stay off on the hard tail

@iainchatuge3 жыл бұрын
where's the best place to park up to get access to these trails?

You can park at the hub or there is a parking lot across from Davidson river campground that is easiest to access the trails Hope you get out and ride it soon!
