Piskarevskoye Memorial Cemetery is a cemetery located in the north-east of Saint Petersburg (in the Soviet days named Leningrad), one of the sites of mass burials of victims of the siege of Leningrad and soldiers of the Leningrad Front. A memorial to the fallen was erected at the cemetery. It is the world's largest memorial cemetery dedicated to the victims of World War II.

MY AUNT ANNA TARASEVICH DIED IN BLOCKED LENINGRAD FROM COLD AND HUNGER AT THE AGE OF 30 IN MARCH 1942. WAS BURIED AT PISKAREVSKY MEMORIAL CEMETERY. HER NAME IS RECORDED IN THE MEMORY BOOK OF THE BLOCKADE OF LENINGRAD VOLUME #30.

My mother Olga Tarasevich-Akhrameeva, sister of Anna and Maria Tarasevich, remained alive after the siege of Leningrad in 1941-1944 by the German army. In 1941 she was 20 years old. After WW2, my mother was left an orphan. She died in Leningrad in 1994. She was buried at the Piskarevskoye cemetery.

WWII such a time of suffering for the Russian people and others. My Dad was shot and survived fighting in WWII. He volunteered to serve to save his homeland after seeing what evil was driven by Hitler and those helping him

Then Leningrad now St. Petersburg, beautiful city. Such a shame they wanted to destroy the city and its people. Russian gave a lot to help us to free the world from evil. Evil is, still is around, we can not allow another war. Wars should end, once and for all.

Семья моей бабушки оставалась в Ленинграде всю блокаду. К сожалению, прадедушка погиб от голода в феврале 1942 года. Остальные чудом выжили. Бабушка рассказывала, что она привезла тело на кладбище на санках и оставила в огромном ангаре. Захоронили уже в мае, когда расстаила земля.

One of the most beautiful, and most heartbreaking cemeteries on earth. I visited it in 2007. Go there, learn, and understand the unimaginable losses of the Russian people in World War 2/The Great Patriotic War.
